I never thought I'd live to see this day, but Adobe has announced their plans to acquire Macromedia. Just imagine the Photoshop / Dreamweaver combo ... and omg what is to become of Flash with Actionscript and ColdFusion and ... whoa, looking for some feedback 'n' comments on this one!

Check out this link, folks ...

ok i see the posibilities of the outcome, but imagine dreamweaver with photoshop's complicated menu structure, aaaah, i use adobe cs as well as macromedia studio so know both but i still think it is a big mistake. how is adobe going to merge golive and dreamweaver, photoshop and fireworks, take what they can and discard? the only good i can see is with freehand!

Don't you mean you're going to buy their stock before it goes up?

I think its a fantastic idea and I believe myself that Adobe is going to make something of themselves now. Like some people said, think about combining the Flash and Photoshop, WHOA! Anyway, it may be well worth it, 2 high performance companies for the web world combining. I can tell you one thing, their stock is about to go up and when it does, I am acquiring me some.

It's horrible news. Adobe has a reputation for taking good ideas (PostScript, PDF), and completely ruining them through "marketing and acquisitions". Expect to see strange mutations and "server versions" of Macromedia products.

I think we'll be looking at even higher prices for already overpriced software. There'll now be less competition to keep prices in check.
That's not to say that the products themselves won't benefit from some of the synergy, but..ch-ching!

I think it is generally good. I mean, the best of both worlds will show up in the products now.

So much potential and so many possibilities, I wonder... will they keep flash as 'the' primary tool for the flash medium. Will they eliminate Adobe Golive ? What about fireworks? Will that be gone too? I don't know if this a good or bad.

Yeah, this is absolutely insane. I hope this is a good move; but so far, there are many things to dream and ponder about
