(BLANCHARDSTOWN, IRELAND - June 8, 2005) Startpage Ireland, a one stop resource for Irish web visitors as well as tourists and foreigners, announced this week that it has launched a portal-like directory of resources – including News, Weather, and other links.
The site (http://www.startpage.ie/), which has been around since early February 2005, is visited daily by hundreds of unique visitors, and constantly receives a handful of link requests.
Users of the site enjoy easy navigation, and direct access to desired content.
“Our portal is incredibly user friendly, and offers our visitors access to resources they want within seconds, said Marc Arden, the site’s founder.
Within the site, countless sub-pages provide users with more information on specific topics. These pages are maintained by volunteers.
“Many of our volunteers are experts/hobbyists, and they create special pages for us, said Arden. “We are always looking for more volunteers to help out.
Developers of the site hope that user contribution will help the portal grow into one of the largest ones on the Internet.
“Startpage is calling on all Irish web users to help build the best Irish directory on the net, said Arden.
Interested individuals are asked to submit relevant text links, and apply for their own page on the site.
In addition to outbound links, the site also has interactive features.
“Our photo galleries contain exclusive photographs of Irish evens, most recently the St. Patrick’s day parade, said Arden. “These are pictures you will not find anywhere else.
Startpage has an Irish news section displays over twenty of the latest Irish news stories. The content is always kept up to date via RSS news feeds. News feeds of UK news, world news, business news, and general editorials, are also provided.
In addition, constantly updated weather reports provide city-by-city weather information. Information such as temperature, wind, and visibility, are included.
Arden said that the development team welcomes ideas and feedback from users.
“Emails from our visitors are much appreciated, and certainly always welcome, said Arend.

About Startpage Ireland
Originally started in early 2005, Startpage Ireland was modeled after similar country-specfic web portals, such as http://www.startpagina.nl and http://www.mystart.co.uk. Unprecedented user feedback and support, as well as broad recognition, has helped the site grow. It currently receives hundreds of unique visitors each day, who find quality, “human edited information in a matter of seconds.
