I thought I would do a blog on everyday tech stuff that I come across
I just got a IBM Netfinity 5600, Came through the post a couple of days a go and I was very impressed with it
Specs:
P3 @ 866
1.5GB Ram
2 18GB SCSI Hot Swappable Drives
2 Redundant PSU's
For a ebay product it is obviously a bargain, I picked this up for about £60 inc P+P so it was a must buy, this server can hold up to two processors which I will be getting one soon. Maybe you will think, why is a 14 yr old buying a server? well I can tell you that I am trying to setup an advance network with a few thing,
Domain Controller:
Group Policy to lockdown users
Global managment of all the users in the Active Directory
File Server:
Replacement from Freenas.
More control over your files, more secure.
The only problems Im having at the moment is giving the server a home, as I am only localised in my room it isnt exactly a great place for a server of that size.
On monday I will be ordering a KVM Switch of ebay as I only have one monitor, keyboard, mouse and I will be upgrade my switch to a 16-24 port depending on if I want to expand.
Well thats all I can say for my first blog post, I will post with more problems .etc
