The worst ever earthquake hit Pakistan on Saturday morning (8-10-2005). The quake measuring 7.6 on the richter scale hit the northern areas of Pakistan (Including Northern areas, Kashmir, Federal Capital Islamabad, Rawalpindi and Lahore) causing widespread damage. Heavy rains after the quake added to the difficulties of rescue teams. The death toll following Saturday’s massive earthquake rose to 35,000 on Sunday, with 30,000 victims in Azad Kashmir alone and the death toll is expected to increase as the roads open to the disaster areas ...

The world reacted quickly after the Prime Minister of Pakistan Mr. Shaukat Aziz appealed the friendly states for help... with Turkey, Greece, China and Japan sending immediate rescue teams, the UN emergency relief, Red Cross and UNICEF are also working. The EU union, Briton, USA, Japan, China, Germany, Australia, India are among the few who are willing to give funds to Pakistan for the disaster relief.
