This year at Macworld '06 Steve Jobs announced several new products.
First - New Imacs, no longer part of the 'G5' family the new iMac was released with the same feature sets as the latest G5...except they now come with the brand new intel Core Duo 1.83 GHz Dual-core processor for the 17" version and dual-core 2.0 GHz for the 20".
Second there is a new Notebook on the scene the MacBook Pro. It comes in 15" in 2 configurations. At $1,999.00 you get 1.67 GHz Intel Duo Core with 2 MB L2 Cache, 80 GB SATA hard drive, 128 MB Radeon X1600, 512 MB RAM, and a 667 MHz FSB
For $2499 you get a Duo 1.83GHz, 100 GB SATA, 256 MB Radeon X1600, and 1 GB RAM
iLife '06 - There's a new program out there called iWeb. iWeb can be used to "create websites, blogs, and podcasts — complete with photos, movies, and music — and get them online, fast. Just drag, drop, and design using your choice of web templates, then publish live to your .Mac account."
The other programs in iLife; iPhoto, iMovie HD, iDVD, Garageband, and iTunes all received minor feature updates in this release, except for iTunes which has recently been updated already. More information can be found at http://www.apple.com/ilife/
iWorks '06 was released with some minor features enhancements.
For the iPod a $49 FM receiver and remote can be purchased for the 5G and nano iPods.
All in all an interesting start to 2006
