Ok first off for domain names you want to make sure your domain has keywords for your site in it. If your site does web design you might want www.Web-Design.com or more specific if your site does specifically flash designs get something like www.Web-Design-Flash.com. This can work for anything if you are a business consultant buy a domain like www.Business-Consutling.com. Do a google search of business consultant and http://www.small-business-consultants.net is the second entry and also for a "flash web design" google search http://www.flash-template-design.com/ is the very first entry. You can check it out for searches not everything is gonna come out this way. This has something to do with the way google's algorithm works and you can look up the algorithm and view it under their public trademark license. Another thing to try and get is to try and get an older domain name as close to a year old as you can possibly get. This is another feature in the google algorithm and basically if your web site is older than a year google knows its not spam. Junk sites go up for a couple months at the most and then go down.
Another thing to get good Google page rankings you need to have a very heavily text based web site. The Google bot does not read javascript, flash, and things of that nature. So if you have a site that is all flash Google is not going to be able to index all the content on your site. So what you do is make a very text based content on your site then when you become popular you can add in all your little extras and scripts.
Right now there is new media available with very little content providers. So if we use our previous example of business consultant you can creat a podcast and talk about business and all that stuff and with this new media you have the potential to tap into a large audience rather quickly. This will work even faster if you can find something either controversial in your field or something that is an emerging innovation and talk about it. Also make use of blogs, veoh.com, google's video/audio, and youtube.
The last thing you need to do is get back links. If you can get people to link to your site than you can greatly increase traffic especially if something on your site makes the front page of a site like Digg.com. However you have to make sure that you can get the whole link. If someone links to your site and says "click here" it does you no good because indexing robots won't see your site name or any of that detail it is much better to have for example "to view click here:www.digg.com" or to just post the original link.
So yea this is pretty much just a very simple tutorial that if you follow you can gain very good page rankings. One example is my own podcast which is on eSports now I dont even have my own website/domain name im using all free hosting like blogger and podomatic. However do a search in google for eSports Gaming and my podcast is results number 4 through 7 and then various other back links. Then simply do a search for eSports and it still shows up on page 3 which isnt bad for a brand new podcast without its own hosting and domain name if i could afford www.eSports-Gaming.com I could probably have a much higher page ranking.
