In this day and age it is hard to find a simple computer for cheap. For example lets say your just an average user who needs to write word documents and check email well you don't need some beefy gaming oriented dell or an overpriced apple computer. So a company has now released the iPAQ Sub-100 Desktop for $75. This small PC comes with everything a simple user would need no uneccessary extras.
Sytsem Specs:
CPU: Intel Celeron 500Mhz
Memory: 128MB upgrades to 512MB
Hard Driver: 4GB
Network: 10/100 Ethernet, optional 56K modem
Audio: Built in sound
6 USB Ports
OS of your choice (Ubuntu default)
Now I think this is a great idea, it is sortof like the $100 laptop project. My only complaint is that the hard drive could be a little bigger maybe like 10-15 GB. Now the $75 price doesnt include a monitor but you can find a compliant monitor for cheap if not free. Also because it is only 10 pounds it is great if you want to bring your pc wherever and plug it into a monitor. I also am a big fan of the default OS Ubuntu, which I can't really explain the meaning of. This is a great linux distro I highly suggest you try it out. I will probably talk about it in another blog entry.
