All right, so I'm a little slow on the uptake. My complacency has allowed me to overlook IRC Chat, Web Mobile, and who knows what else. Well I do know at least one other thing: blogs.

Sure you could find my first entry in Bits back in 2006, but I must admit that my perception of how this tool could be used was probably rather limited. So all that's old is new again (to me at least).

Back in The Thingamagadget, I mentioned my AAADD. The latest version goes something like this.

I had gotten the gadget and used it for a while.
  • I had been using the 'Gadget for a while.
  • I wanted to explore Flash support in it to view video.
  • I went to Archos support, and they sent me to Opera.
  • On Opera I signed up to post my questions to their forum.
  • I got an answer, but the account remained.
  • Eventually I thought I'd try the free blogging.
And then I finally decided to give it a shot. During the first week of using a blog, a flood of new ideas flashed through my head, and I am still exploring several of them "on the ground". I'm also beginning to understand that a number of my favorite surf stops are actually quite similar to a blog (if not an actual blog) -- perhaps even some kind of "superblog".

The missing link, for me at least, was the future editability of the blog. That is, the ability to revisit an old blog and link to a newer one. Once that item is out of the way, a new thing that doesn't resemble a "traditional" blog becomes possible. And this new thing now has what I find to be very interesting potential.

So off I go again into uncharted territory, learning as I go. I am definitely enjoying the journey so far. For any other "late bloomers" like me, don't be afraid to ask those younger folks to translate our ideas into the latest technology.
