Hello,

Today was a rough day at work. We had problems with the Windows NT server, as it was messing up the print queue performance, and causing a bunch of mischief in the office. The day flew by very quickly, and before I knew it, it was time to go home. I did not realize until later that i missed lunch. Now that is a good day!

Had dinner tonight with friends, and came back to read some books on how to defend against computer attacks on a network. I believe in continual education, wanting to check out different techniques on network intrusion, and how I can protect my network from those kinds of attacks.

I am glad that I run Linux as a front end to my materials on the internet. Using IPTABLES, I am able to control the firewall down to a science... the powerful configuration tables allow me to host websites, direct certain traffic in certain directions, and remain invisible to casual pings and scans. I also like using text email programs (PINE) as even on a dialup modem, I can check email in a quick hurry, and not have to worry about all the pictorial crap that can come along in an email message.

Take care, and catch you a different night.
