Hello new to site and IT

Hello,

I may have some very dumb questions and hope that you all can make me a little bit smarter.

I live in MI and the carpentry trade that I have been in for 15 years is dying out up here. So planning on going back to school in the IT field. I have always liked trouble shooting, taking apart and fixing different things. Computers have always had my interest too. So I'm looking into a program at a community college that will give me an assoc degree and set me up to take the CCNA and CompTIA A+ certs. The degree is computer support engineering technology and if its the right program for me and I get working and like it I can always go back to school for more education.

So now for the questions, do you guys think this is a good start with the degree and certs. Please feel free to explain your route or if it's a good start an so on and so on.

Thanks for your help, John
