Re: Can't figure out how to post a new thread

I'm curious about the ladder seen in construction.

Sounds like a good film, I'll watch out for it.

Very amusing -listen? I've subscribed to this thread so I naturally have cllicked to see what someone has posted. The user is right. There is no "Post a New Thread button on the actual thread page(s). Entry to Daniweb via a web search will land the visitor on a thread or on the Home page. I think this is what is happening.

To post a new thread one has to go to the Forum page. Select a forum, then select a sub-forum. And then the button is present.

Just to make sure I did a page search on the source code. And only found what we have been posting. I think that having a link to the forum page for the thread would help. A Start a New Thread button on the thread would take the user to the particular forum page. In this case "Daniweb Community". The "breadcrumbs" could be a different colour as well.

-listen?
It was a reference to 'Allo 'Allo, but I guess the 'young' folks will probably not be familiar with that show...

Re: Can't figure out how to post a new thread

Part of the problem is that there is no agreement on what the text on the buttons means.

In this BBS, "Post Quick Reply" is used AFTER you write your post.

In another BBS I use, "Post Quick Reply" opens the text box so you can type the reply. "Save" posts the reply.

In yet another BBS I use, "Post Reply" opens the text box. The text box has another button below it "Post Reply" that posts the message. But the original "Post Reply" button is above the text box, and if you push it to submit the post, it erases your text. It also has a "Save" button that saves your post, so you can go get something, then come back and edit it.

Yes and some cars have an automatic gearbox and some have a manual. Learn to live with it.

Re: Can't figure out how to post a new thread

You need to leave this active thread, go to the forum you want to post in by using the drop down navigation menu at the top of the page and when you arrive there the 'start new thread' button will be very clearly visible. Hope that helps.
