Would there be any benefit in having a 'Watch' button? The idea of the button would be to allow you to watch the progress of a thread. This would mean a user could follow a thread they are interested in learning from.

At the moment the only way possible of watching a thread is to post in it. But, then you have to sift through all the posts you've shared to find the one you are particularly interested in.

Just click the 'Watch this Article' button right below the reply box of a thread (next to where you can mark it solved).

You can then go to 'Watched Articles' at the top of any page of the site to see all of the articles you're currently watching, and follow when they've been updated.
