Something tells me it's the ad? (We switched ad servers today) Are you using an ad blocker?

Taking Dani's post to heart, I turned off my adblocker (AdBlock Plus 0.7.5) and it sped things up significantly.

I assume if it is happening to me it must be happening to others.
Ditto. And adblocker.

The ad loads in an iframe though. The rest of the page should still load around it?

Dave, everyone who has access to Area 51 (mods, community helpers, etc) can now go into their control panels and next to the Disable IntelliTXT option is a new disable graphical ads option :)
Everyone else ... you can enjoy a true ad-free DaniWeb by donating for a few dollars a month.

If I could get the 1-year thing but pay each month, I'd have signed up a couple minutes ago... unfortunately, I can't take the 1-year rate atm... (and I'm too cheap to do it a month at a time :P)

What do you mean by "true"? You know what I'm asking.

I was actually talking to fluffy bunnies or cute bunnies (forget his name) in IRC about an appropriate price to charge for donations ... something that would at least let me break even with the money being lost on the advertisements.
I mean that when you hack having no ads by using an ad blocker, you get big empty white spaces where the ads are supposed to be. But when you set it up in your control panel, you get a truly no-ads version which means the space is all nicely closed up and the quick reply box is wide without having an ad next to it, etc.

Right now you're alone, Kevin ... but I will keep my eyes out for anyone else. (Infarction's problem seems to be related to the ad server which I will look into tomorrow)
Unfortunately I can't debug something that, not only do I not experience, but only one person seems to experience it. :( I wish I could offer a better solution for you right now but I'm out of ideas.

Perhaps. But that has too much of a ring of "workaround" as opposed to solution -- in the vein of, "You bought this product, but that means you'll have issues so you need to buy this other fixer-upper."

Like I said, I don't know how to troubleshoot an issue it seems only Kevin is having right now. Your problem is ad related as well, right?

I don't know, I didn't turn mine off. Besides, I just switched my internet connection very recently, but this is the only site I've noticed this issue with.

Can you please (at least temporarily) turn the ads off in your control panel and let me know if you're still experiencing the issue? This way I can narrow it down to my JS or the ads JS.
Thanks!

Sure, done. But I don't visit often logged in and I'm about to call it a night.

So, I actually splurged and donated :D but I'm still getting slow load times, probably from the JS for the fancy effects. Load times are tending to be anywhere from 2-15 seconds, though shorter ones are typically cached pages.

Aww, thanks for the donation. It's appreciated! I will look into the advertising tomorrow first thing. You should know that, while here tweaking the new style, I'm uploading new javascript files every few minutes.

Yeah, I'd noticed lots of things changing back and forth. I figure you're plenty busy for now, so hopefully it'll get figured out in the next couple days :icon_wink:

Hey, Dani nice layout. :)
But Kevin's problem occurs at my end too. Infact it occurred the first time I logged in to Daniweb this morning.
I am using a 12 MB link at home, and god knows what at work. The unresponsive script dialog box occurs at both places.
Also, I have noticed that the fast loading of pages does not happen since the new layout went live. The unresponsive script error occurs when I try to scroll the page before it finishes loading.
Oh and I dont use an adblocker, and the ads are disabled from the control panel. It occurs when enabled or disabled.
