Display Problem

Can anyone tell me what causes my display to go halfscreen on occasion?
It is not the monitor, I have tried different ones.I have a Packard Bell Multimedia 820 with a MXX enhanced 300 processor with 128MB of Ram and a 3.2 Gig hard drive.
