The Ford Pinto was quite a car! I drove one as a poor student, the doors were hard to close, the dashboard was at least two inches higher on one side, it was made from crude recycled steel and rusted like crazy, the gas tank was in a real bad place, it had no traction in the winter, and the springs came through the seat.
Mine was assembled in Canada, but compared to other models from Ford in those days, it was actually good quality.

I had a Ford pinto stationwagon -- the only problem I had with it was that it had no zip, it took a looooong time for it go go from 0 to 50, a snale could beat it.

Getting across an intersection quickly with a Pinto was nerve-wracking. When you stepped on the gas too much, it simply flooded and stalled right in the middle!
Ah, those were the good old days!
