Meaningless pat on the back, but...

Expand Post »
I just passed my Lotus Notes R4 Sys Admin 1 test with a score of 85% (required score: 64%). Having never touched a LN network, live or test, in an admin capacity and teaching myself only on my stand alone Win98 PC (YES, WINDOWS '98 > ) I don't think I did too shabbily! 8) Of course that Specialist cert, the one I got for R4 Developer 1 last year & 50cents won't buy me a cup of coffee, since the R4 certs are being retired on Monday (09/30/02), but at least it starts me back on the LN road. next up: full PCLP (Principal Certified Lotus Professional) certs for R5 - 0 down & only 8 to go for both sides of the fence; wish me luck! ;D

Re:Meaningless pat on the back, but...

Good job man! Congrats. I'm still waiting some time until I take the new ColdFusion MX Certification exam. I was going to take the ColdFusion5 exam this past summer, but I found out they were going to discontinue the certification and replace it with a new one starting Jan 1, 2003. They are also changing the format of the exam, and now it's even longer. Oh well. After that I plan on taking the Java Certification exam from Sun, which I heard was a pain on both ass cheeks. We'll see how it goes.

Good luck on your next exam!

Re:Meaningless pat on the back, but...

Thanks all! Good luck inscissor! I think getting that 5 cert wouldnt hurt you - it'll add to ur resume & it'll prep u for the MX cert . granted, there'll be alot of different stuff on it, but there's also going to be alot of the same stuff on the new cert as they've got to give at least the illusion of backward compatiblity. Thats why I took the R4 cert knowing its going to be retired in a couple of days: resume fodder and i know at least 60% of it will be applicable to R5. after all, they'ver upgraded their software, not reinvented the wheel!!! ;D Either way bro, thanks again & good luck w/Cold Fusion/Java/whereever your ITcentric heart takes ya! LOL!

It'll hurt my wallet. But it will pay off in a way. They did a hell of a lot of changes in the new version of CF, now being Java based. Macromedia also has certification for Dreamweaver and Flash, which would be neat to take.

No problem. Sounds like it would be easy getting the certification... sounds like it anyways, I never really took a sample test. I looked at some questions from a workbook and they were HTML/CSS questions.
