Anyone have a P3 1Ghz Coppermine they wanna sell/donate?

Hi peeps,

Looking to squeeze some extra juice from my Folding@home / home gateway machine, currently chugging along at 533Mhz but my mobo should take upto a 1Ghz socket 370 P3.. anybody want to sell one or know where I can get one for a reasonable price.

Also which would be best a P3 1Ghz or a Celeron 1.1Ghz?

Cheers,

Tom.

I've been looking at eBay and I can find the right CPUs but they always seem to go for extortionate amounts..i.e. up to 60 ($90, roughly the same as a new XP 2500). I guess that's as the 1Ghz will be the max a lot of old motherboards can take making them a very popular upgrade part.

do you have a local school or uni or something as they're always chucking units out and if you have the brass to ask you may find what youre looking for and some other scavenged parts. thats what i do for spares (but my mum works at the school so i get her to ask hehehe) but its worth a try:)
