quick basic dos to video output to YouTube

I have many fluid flow programs written in quick basic, run in dos environment. I would like to run them and get the output into a video editing program to add a voice narration track to upload to YouTube. Can I take the cable that goes to the monitor and run the signal into a video device and record the signal. Help please. Whats the best way to proceed? Much thanks in advance for any help.
