Christmas :-|. Yeah, I wonder if it can become any more trite. Honestly, I try to enjoy Christmas as I have quaint and sentimental memories of it from childhood (1970's), but things were different back then I think. Usually a week or two before Christmas I become depressed by it and more negative in general. Don't know why exactly.

This past year I went to dinner with family-- everyone looked absolutely thrilled about the holiday  Joking. Christmas was not mentioned once! :cheesy: This year was a bit different due to circumstances; my girl's brother just came back from Army Airborne training for holiday leave and will be shipping out to Iraq soon for ground duty in Baghdad. Her family was very somber. It was nice to be with her family and be included, though. I suppose that is what it is about.

On Christmas day what did I do? Came to Daniweb, coded some, played video games. No different than any other day. I think many, many folks in America are realizing the joke Christmas has become (but they cannot seem to break away from the sappy traditions).

Regards,
Matty

Re: Valentine's Day

*sigh* well, I don't have a good track record with V-day (sounds like D-day). Most of my life I have had no reason to celebrate the dang holiday, and the one time I actually do have a girlfriend on v-day, she spends the entire day patronizing me, which in turn leads to me calling her a bitch, and I break it off with her after 8 months because she can't even stand to be around me. She would rather have watched television than do ANYTHING with me.

I could live without this one easily. It's just a depressing day for me; it always has been.

Ill be spending it with my wife just like she told me to do
hehe, just like a guy! I have never been a huge fan of the day but this year I am with a guy who isn't very romantic, at least not in the conventional way. He does really sweet things for me, but prob not things most would consider 'romantic' so it will be interesting to see how he will react to Valentines. I am not into material things so even a back rub or a lil makeout session would make me happy

Re: Valentine's Day

I have never liked Valentines Day. Always horrible if you are single and never get a card!

However, my good lady has kindly granted me a pardon for this year. She said I don't have to get her anything (and no there isn't any female reverse psychology here) as she has just moved home and doesn't know her address. Oh and I can't hand deliver it because I moved many, many miles away for work

I remember a friend of mine mentioned how silly VD traditions are. He told me that he would never go for the standard gifts of chocolate and flowers. Why? Because chocolate makes you fat, and flowers die... how does that show love!

However some of you may have heard of a special day for us men in March. And the girlfriend has promised to honour great day so long as I am nice to her this weekend... which I always am anyway, so win-win!

Just remember lads: Nothing says I love you like a 2GB USB pen drive!
