Expand Post »
hello

well I've got a little problem here.

I have a vaio laptop running ubuntu. I upgraded it from version 7.10 to 8.04 using the Update Manager.

I had no problem with installation, but now when I start the computer it remains freeze after the BIOS check...

I only get this message

Starting up...
[ 12.194676] ACPI: EC: acpi_ec_wait timeout, status = 0, expect_event = 1
[ 12.194722] ACPI: EC: read timeout, command = 128

If someone can help me please =]

Re: Problem Running Ubuntu on Vaio Laptop

Hi there,

There is a long discussion about this in Launchpad Bugs section for Ubuntu.

You might want to try booting up without the cord being plugged in so your booting with only the battery. Some have stated that works for them.

Best bet is to look over all the information in the bug report (link above) and/or search google. When searching for help I get awesome results by just adding the word ubuntu and then my search query.

You also may want to try booting with the LAN card disabled in your BIOS to see if it will boot.
I know I had to disable my LAN card on my Dell.
