Windows 10 compliance problems

Is there any way to get rid of that annoying music-store avatar to the right? My friend's computer doesn't have it.

Also, and the basis for my thread, for some reason Media Player 10 refuses to play files which are stored on my external hard-drive. WMP 9 didn't have a problem with this, but since I downloaded some patch-updates to the player, it refuses to reinstall and even when I try to uninstall the service-patches THEMSELVES, my computer gives me an error-message.

I am still running SP-1, because I do not care for the degree to which SP-2 succeeded in grinding my computer's processing-speed to a snail's halt, but that has not given me problems in a the past.

Thanks!
