RAM OVERCLOCKING WIZARDS help is needed here

i've got 4x2GB Kingston 800MHz mems, and i'd like to kick them up a notch from what they're currently running at, 1066 possible? CUPID says they're running at the following:
DRAM 400mhz, command rate 2T, fsb:ram 5:6, with the timing at 6,6,6,18, 52 for latencies and delays. i'm using an asus p5qe, pentium dual core 3.0, 500gb hd, WIN XP 64bit.

long and the short of it? where or how do i determine the the latencies without jacking up the timing and given EXCELLENT cooling, but not water, is 1066 okay with these boards?

any help, hints, pointers, clues are greatly appreciated. thanks, and yes, i'm ordering faster ddr2 now and for valentine's day i'm selling and going ddr3

AMD Athlon 64 X2 4800+ at 73 degrees celcius!!! HELP!!!

Hi guys,

Recently, my mainboard became faulty and I sent it for a replacement. When the board came back, i fix back my AMD Athlon 64 X2 4800+ cpu and i applied a new coat of thermal compound. I then installed the game Borderlands and my PC kept turning itself off. So i suspected it could be my processor overheating. I reapplied another coat of thermal compound, this time a thinner layer and my PC stills run hot at 50-60 degrees when idling. Therefore, I went to purchase a reputable thermal compound, Gellid GC Extreme and applied. Thank god the temp became 49 to 52 degrees at idle. However, when I started playing borderlands, the temperatures shoots up to a whooping 73 degrees. From what I know(if i'm not wrong), my CPU max temp is 65 degrees so I am realli afraid I would burn my CPU. I did not overclock.

Pls advise. Is 73 degrees too hot for my CPU? If it is, what is wrong and what can I do? Possible that the CPU is faulty thus resulting in the increase in temp? Or is it the way i applied my thermal compound or its time i change my CPU heatsink?

hello;

can some one please tell me as to what is is the significance of
memory address register size? when we are designing an architecture
say for a 3 address-format machine with a 14 bits MAR.

What should we consider in allocating the appropriate number of bits
to the op-code, operand and general purpose register fields.

Our architecture is going to support 2000 different commands and
access 250 different general purpose registers. We are not sure how do
we calculate the total length of IR and total number of direct
addressable locations.

For 2000 instructions, our opcode is going to have 11 bits, 8 bits for
250 different registers. Total IR length would depend on our operand
size, we are not sure how to calculate that actually.

Motherboard trouble

I have a gateway M1625 and about a month ago it started acting funny. Anytime I turn it on, the LED lights up and I can see the CD ROM light on but nothing appears on the screen. Someone suggested the CMOS battery be changed but that didn't solve it. any help?

News Story New AMD processors quadruple memory bandwidth

While most reporters and bloggers today are trumpeting the fine showing by chip-maker AMD in the semi-annual list of the world's Top 500 Supercompting Sites, for me the real news is what AMD has planned for next year. In the first quarter of 2010, AMD is scheduled to begin shipping a processor that will include not only 12 cores, but also the vastly expanded memory bandwidth to support them.

Code-named Magny-Cours, the processors will offer four channels for DDR3 memory, twice that of its 6-core Opteron top-performer, which by the way powers what is today considered the fastest supercomputer in the world. AMD further boasts this week that five of the top 10 systems on the November list have AMD inside. DDR3 doubles the transfer rate of DDR2, effectively quadrupling bandwidth when available over four channels instead of two.

"A processor with four memory channels and 12 cores will be a very appealing option for film rendering and virtualization of high performance computing," said John Fruehe, director of business development at AMD's Server and Workstation Division, in a confidential group phone briefing Friday. It will be a natural, he said, for the types of things being done in the film industry, where Intel has a stronghold.

But the news isn't all upside; all of AMD's new processors, starting with the Magny-Cours, will require all new system hardware. However, AMD says that the socket infrastructure will support its 16-core processors coming in 2011 and beyond.

Audio Chip/Codec tolerances and differences

Hi all. Bear with me, I promise this will be hardware related in a minute...

I'm working on a project for which I need to generate some FSK. I'm doing so by using a sin(...) function to calculate the values along the wave for N periods of frequency A and M periods of frequency B, both of duration T, and storing them in a buffer. I tried using the waveOutWrite function to play the buffer that I created, but it ended up creating a complex sine wave which, for the most part, looked like I wanted it to (frequency wise) but it looked pretty fat and ugly on the oscilloscope. I zoomed in on it and it had another sine-looking wave running along the major sine wave, which made the FSK get all hosed up. To fix this, I ended up creating my own WAV file and put the data from the buffer in that, saved the file to disk and used PlaySound(...) to play it.

Here's where it gets hardware (I think...possibly) related. Take for instance the low bit frequency, 1562.5 Hz. When I play it on the development PC (a dell with what shows up as a microsoft sound device, SoundMax Integrated Digital HD Audio) it is coming out too fast and hoses up the FSK...it looks on the scope to be about 1572.3. When I play them from the device on which it's intended to be played (Intel board with RealTek ALC662 audio chip) it comes out dead on at 1562.5.

And here are my questions: Why the heck is it behaving like this? Does it have something to do with the dell audio device being integrated and perhaps running off of the system clock rather than a dedicated audio clock which could be messing up the sample rate or something whereas the RealTek has a dedicated audio chip which, presumably, has it's own clock rate?

As an interesting side note, as far as I can tell, the WAVEFORMATEX WAVEOUTCAPS only seems to support up to 44.1kHz sample rates, so that's what I'm using as of now, but the RealTek ALC662 data sheet says that it does up to 96kHz. When I used 96kHz (even though WAVEOUTCAPS doesn't seem to know about that frequency) for the sample rate with the waveOutWrite file, it made a simple sine wave that looked fine on the scope. Why would that behave that way? Is it because the chip knows about it and I'm telling the software to tell the chip to use that frequency and if the MS functions don't know about that frequency then it's their problem, not the software or the chip's? Is there something magical about the 96kHz frequency that makes it work (being the chip max or something) or would some other [evenly divisible] lower frequency likely also make a nice wave? (although none that I tried seemed to)

CPU Speed Problem

I have an Asus G1Sn laptop that is stock except for a CPU upgrade. Instead of the T5550 at 1.83 ghz (800 mhz FBS) I now have a T9500 at 2.6 ghz (800 mhz FSB). My problem is that when running a diagnostic program like CPUZ the processor is displayed at the correct amount but only runs to 1.2 ghz maximum. Even when I put a load on my computer such as playing a game or running background programs, the current state does not increase. My CPU sits a multiplier of 6 and refuses to change, it does not scale up or down according to any usage on the computer. I am plugged in, power settings have the processors maximal and minimal state at 100%. I have the most current BIOS for my motherboard and I am under the impression that SpeedStep is not installed on my board/OS. I have looked in the BIOS and have no availability to configure my CPU speed or any other processor related function. There is no SpeedStep or C1E information in my BIOS either. Any help would be appreciated, I have no idea why my laptop is scaling my CPU down and not increasing it. My laptop does not run hot, and it is clean of dust.

I am new user now,but i saw some solutions that makes me believe and trust on you that i can get 100% satisfaction solution from u.
About my Home PC problem is:
By the past 4 days ,Our PC is not booting when i press the CPU button,no light in CPU button,no fan sound inside CPU,nothing else.
When i kept this machine like this after 2 or 3 hours, when i comeback and see, our Home PC is booting up automatically and opening OS smoothly, there's no inbetween error or anything else, just running smoothly.
But if we shut down and switch ON the CPU after 30 minutes or 1 hour, the above same problem exists as we press the CPU button,it doesn't powers ON...but if we see after 3 hours , our PC is booting up normally without any error screen messages and opening my OS Vista Ultimate and also XP [dual OS]

what might be the problem happening like this always, any SMPS power problem or in motherboard or in memory RAM card, or in Backup UPS or ...what exactly the problem it is happening everytime for us.

Please HELP US that i mostly trust U

Our PC is going to be 1 year old by next month[december-26th]

My PC is assembled with branded components with help of my known computer engineer friend[very distant friend].
Also i want to mention about my motherboard that i saw a green light still glows in my motherboard without this CPU doesn't boot, also even when in working condition, my PC time also going slowly within this 1 year to complete my 1 st New Home PC system anniversay. How is it possible that my PC time changed slowly, always keep on changing every time .
My Latest situation is from sunday onwards , my PC didn't boot at al even when i press the CPU power switch button in the morning,then no boot up..
By the previous day i switched the CPU power switch ON in the morning, then in the evening at 5:30 only, my PC booted up and worked normally till my night sleep before go to bed. Then on next day[sunday], i cleaned my PC to remove some dust with soft brush, not by disconnecting all the power supply,just removed all the connection by the back of the components like monitor wire,mouse,keyboard,ethernet,speaker wire,..and also remove[unplugged] my 2 GB RAM memory card and put it back into same slot, didn't do disconnected Hard disk cable,DVD drive cable, and rest of the wire was connected to motherboard i didn't touched it at all.
Then my PC didn't totally booted up till i waited for the evening and also by night time.
Till so far i didn't touched my CPU because of nervous and if i touch it didn't go wrong by major problem of afraid.
Tell me so far i told my PC condition now, what might be the problem exactly, then what i supposed to do now...

anyone know what the s stands for in pc2-6400s, i have a laptop with 2x1gig marked s ,and i wanted to upgrade so i got the shop to order me a 2gig stick ,but it doesn't have the S , i installed it ,seems to be working ok,but didn't make any difference between the 2gig and running at 3 gig .is the S a important factor ,thinking maybe it just for sodim, the s chip is samsung ,the 2 gig i bought is kingston.will eventually get another kingston to make it an exact match

and yes Bob i did google it 10 different ways , ,one forum poster actually said it was singular and plural !

Dell RAM upgrade

Hi - my dell user manual (for inspiron 9400) says that it supports DDR-II RAM up to 667 MHz, but the recommended upgrade on the Dell website is for 800 MHz RAM. Is installing the "too-fast" RAM going to be a problem?

Hello all, I'm putting together a cheap computer, here is a couple of the things i have,
a GIGABYTE GA-MA770T-UD3P mobo, AMD Phenom II X2 550 processor, and G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) ram.
My question is, I believe that i saw somewhere that the 550 can only do Ram at like 1333, is this right? I don't know where to look to see if this is the case or too much about Ram. Will my setup not run the Ram at 1600? Any help and explanations will be greatly appreciated, thank you.

OS: Windows XP Media Center Edition 32bit

I been using this setup for about 2 years now and it ran games just fine.

About 6 weeks ago my old motherboard (Asus P5PL) gave out. I had to buy a new motherboard and ram (my old ram was incompatible with the new motherboard), I also reformatted my hard drive and reinstalled Windows along with replacing them. Now when I play my games (such as Call of Duty 4 and Battlefield 2 titles) they run poorly even on very low or minimum settings. I used to run them at near max settings pretty smoothly before with my old motherboard. I tried changing my video drivers three times now, but nothing's changed.

Specifically what happens while playing Call of Duty titles is the fps will go up (70+ frames per second) if I look away toward a wall or floor, but when I look to where everything is at and all the action it drops pretty badly (30-50 frames per second), even on minimum settings. I run my games at either 1024x768 or 1280x1024 so it shouldn't be straining the video card that badly. But as said, I used to run the games pretty smoothly all the time before at near max settings. Every game has generally not so great frames-per-second compared to my old motherboard.

Side notes:
*DirectX is up-to-date.
*All my drivers are installed.
*CPU temps are 39c at idle, 55c while playing BF2, and 60c while playing CoD4.
*GPU temps are fine
*Windows is a fresh install.
*Not too many apps running in the background.
*Ran chkdsk fine.

Some people said that because I'm running one stick of ram that, that might be the culprit behind the lack luster gaming performance. I had multiple sticks of ram on my previous setup. Could two sticks in dual channel be that much of a performance difference than one stick in single channel. The frequency of the ram module is 667Mhz by the way.

Reboots when playing games, moving large files, streaming video etc.

I have a rather annoying problem. My PC is rebooting a lot, without giving any BSODs. This happens when I'm moving large files, when playing certain games and sometimes when streaming videos (although this could be due to other reasons and just coincidence). There are no reboots when I leave the computer alone, and I can surf the web, watch videos on my HD, use Photoshop etc.

I recently replaced my power supply and ram due to the computer not booting at all. I had these reboot problems before this, but they were rather rare. For a week after replacing parts the reboots were also very rare, but now I can reproduce them very easily. E.g. the game Borderlands reboots in the main menu after a few seconds. First it would reboot after an hour into the game, then the time got shorter and shorter and now I can't play it. I've monitored the temps of various components, but can't seem to find anything overheating. The GPU goes to 60C+, but that's hardly fatal. I can however play less hardware-intensive games.

I ran Prime95's in-place large FFTs test and I immediately got a BSOD, but even though I had "automatically restart" on BSODs unchecked, it still rebooted, so I don't know what the BSOD was about.

Any guesses on what could be causing it?

So:
- Computer reboots when moving large files.
- Computer reboots when playing hardware-intensive games.
- Reboots might also be linked to video streaming.
- BSOD when running Prime95.
- Rebooting has become a lot more frequent over time (think of a curve with time on x-axis and reboots on y-axis).

- Recently replaced power supply and RAM, but problems existed before this.
- Cannot see anything unusual in hardware temperatures.

While the competition is hard at work on a 100-core processor, Intel this week reported advances in phase-change memory (PCM), a type of non-volatile memory that is seen as a possible next-generation replacement for flash.

In a joint announcement yesterday with Swiss memory maker Numonyx, the companies said they had demonstrated for the first time the ability to "stack multiple layers of PCM arrays within a single die," significantly increasing the space savings and reducing power consumption related to the technology.

Memory cells consist of a storage element and a selector. Several stacked memory cells make a memory array. By stacking PCM-cell arrays, the companies have demonstrated what they call a phase change memory and switch (PCMS), a vertically integrated memory cell. "The ability to layer or stack arrays of PCMS[es] provides the scalability to higher memory densities while maintaining the performance characteristics of PCM, a challenge that is becoming increasingly more difficult to maintain with traditional memory technologies," according to the statement.

At the center of the advance is the Ovonic Threshold Switch (OTS), which in essence is a thin layer of glass that changes its resistive state depending on the level of current being applied to it. Researchers deployed the thin film in a new way, with the "two-terminal OTS as the selector, matching the physical and electrical properties for PCM scaling." With the compatibility of thin-film PCMS, multiple layers of cross point memory arrays are now possible, the report said, giving way to layered arrays that when combined with CMOS circuits, can be used for decoding, sensing and logic functions.

I've decided to build a new PC, instead of just buying a pre-built. I'm in the process of doing some research to make sure I do it right...the first time. From what I've read so far, it seems to be that the motherboard is the most important decision to make...and to make first. I'm still going to do some more Googling (because I haven't been able to find a good explanation yet) but came across Daniweb, which looks to be a good resource for this question, which is:

Are there different types of motherboards (not just namebrands...but specs, etc.)?
How will I know if it's compatible with all the other components?

So far I'm thinking of going with an Intel Quad Core and an ATI Radeon Video Card as 2 of the main components...but no other specifics/decisions thus far.

Dear Sir,
I wonder if anyone could offer me any help with my laptop.

I was running it in my truck via an inverter ( I have to use cord as wont run on battery)I started the engine with the laptop running, and it immediately turned itself off. Now, when I press the on button, it lights up and the fan starts off for approx 3 seconds then just stops and the on button just flashes. Nothing on the screen and does nothing else if you leave it for a while.

I fear I may have blown something inside it, but any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

hi,
i just got a dell d600, the thing is that there is a bios configuration password on it . it can bootup to windows alright but i cant change any thing in the bios setup. it is really anonying as it is making the system perform very poorly.
i have contacted dell but they have declined to help cos i am not the original owner of the machine, i don't know the original owner and i sure did not steal it, i bought it at a second hand computers shop, i do not live in the USA, if not i would have personally taken it to the dell office.

pc3200-30330 vs 30440 and RAM size 'mixing'

Just recently bought more ram for my powermac g5 - (specs at end of post)

If anything it seems slower when using Final Cut Studio. When I view my activity monitor while rendering etc, it rarely shows a decent amount of RAM being used to process.

My question-- I noticed my newly installed ram is 30440 and the older/original ram is 30330
Is this a problem?

Also, I have the ram installed in pairs- but they are in different sizes.
One 256mb pair (30330)
One 512mb pair (30330)
and one 1gb pair (30440)
Under system profile, it says all dimms are 'ok' and it registers 3 .5 something gigs of ram

I've since taken everything out but the 2 1gb pair to see if it speeds up, so far nothing drastically noticeable. Perhaps a hair faster than when I had the 256's and 512's in there as well.

Please advise/help!

Help finding RAM slots

In no way am I new at all of this, but I recently drug my dad's old laptop out of storage about a week ago, and I wiped the hard drive and installed Ubuntu on it so I could try it out, but I looked at all his stuff on it and he has like 225MB of RAM on this system, so I took my old RAM chips from my laptop, and was going to put them in this, and well needless to say I cannot find the RAM slots. The type of computer is a..well, I don't even know. All it says on it anywhere is "Ultra". It says that on the top of the screen, and at the bottom of the screen by the keyboard. I've taken this thing apart as far as I could (Some things I couldn't get off) And still no luck. Any help will be much appreciated. Thanks in advance!!

Physical Dump Memory

I have a core 2 duo 2.8 Ghz processor.But my computer runs slow.Without running any programs It shows around 50% CPU usage and shows that 94% of core1 is being used.
Whenever i insert pendrive after some time Blue screen comes and displays Physical Dump Memory...the pc gets restarted and then it fails to detect one my hard drives and hence fails to boot.
After restarting 2-3 times,it resume normally if luck prevails.And when the computer starts, it makes lot of noise as if coming from the chasis fan.

Cheap but good flash memory?

Mouse, Keyboard and Monitor problem

Hey, im having a problem with my mouse, keyboard and monitor. Now due to me thinking at first its a problem with the motherboard i decided to make this thread here.

The problem specifically is simply all three dont work, well the monitor does but its left in standby so the screen is just black but i know its on because the power light, which is usally blue, is orange.

I tried un-plugging the keyboard and plugging it back in, the scroll/num/caps lock lights flick on and then off and thats all i get, which tells me it cant be a power issue same with the monitor, that cant be a power issue either.

The mouse just doesnt work at all.

Can anyone shed some light on this?
I cant do anything other than turn my comp on and off at the moment (im writing this from a different comp).

Any help would be much appretiated!

IBM T22 erratic startup

I have an IBM T22 that I've had for a few years; lately it has been acting up. I'm running Win2K 512 Mb Ram. When I put the machine on either Standby or Hibernate, I'll have a tough time waking the thing up again. When I push the "Fn" button (if on Standby) the half moon "Sleep" indicator will go out, and it will behave as if it was turned completely off. Before it had a problem, the "Fn" key would wake it up fine. When I put it into Hibernate, then attempt a wakeup, it will just flash the HDD light and the AC power indicator alternately. Weird. The only way to get it to function (sometimes) is to unplug the battery, wait (sometimes a day or more) then put the battery back in and try it. It has been less and less willing to start up, so the question is: is it the motherboard, or what? If so, how expensive and difficult is it to replace one on this machine? Where could I find one cheap? Many thanks for any suggestions. I'd just like to get this up reliably and give it to my 8 year old for his "destruction" :-)

New motherboard and cpu no display

I just recently bought a new mobo, cpu, ram, and power supply. I installed them into my old compac box and started it; when i hit the power button the fan turns on, the leds light up and i can hear the drives going, but i get no display on the monitor. I know the monitor works cause i've used it before, any help would be great.

video problem on sony vaio laptop

Some days back, my Sony Vaio laptop (model VGN B100B) screen blanked out all of a sudden.

Now the laptop does not boot though it gets power. On power up, the DVD drive spins and the indicator lights for HDD, power and wireless go on; but nothing shows on screen. Nothing shows even when an external monitor is connected.

The hard drive is fine - I removed it and backed up the files.

I tried disconnecting the power cord, removing the battery and holding down the power switch for a minute as has been suggested on some other threads (eg: http://www.daniweb.com/forums/thread41145.html ). But nothing showed up on the screen after restoring the power.

I suspect the video chip or the entire motherboard is fried.

Any suggestions on how to isolate the issue and if it is indeed the video, where to get a new chip?

Mobo Keeps on Restarting

Hi, Ive got a problem with my friends mobo. He requested me check it because the technician keeps on telling him to buy this things yet his pc still restarts once he returns the unit back home. By the way the mobo is Gigabyte GA-8I865GME-775 (http://www.gigabyte.ph/Products/Moth...ProductID=2223). Also, the technician suggested that he should change his PSU to 500W... and so he did.

Last night I brought my Unit with thw Socket 775 then tested it there. I've already place his processor, Memory and HDD into my unit. So I can Format his HDD. After formatting his HDD already work. But after testing my HDD into his mobo and power supply it restarted. Also, after testing his processor, mem & HDD into my unit I've returned his parts into his unit. Still, his unit keeps on restarting.

But the jack for the local area connection in my computer does not work, usually when you plug in a cable it lights up, it doesn't. I've tried different cables, and system restored but none of that seems to be working. Any trouble shootings to do?

computer hangs on ASUS start screen

This has worked fine for several years, but now hangs at the ASUS screen on every start, instead of proceeding with the full boot. Pressing there brings up the BIOS screen, which hangs at "auto-detecting device #01. Several hard restarts later, the BIOS will roll past #01 to #03, then automatically brings up BIOS Setup Utility. Pressing there brings up a box asking if I wish to "Discard configuration changes and exit now?" Pressing OK there initiates the normal boot process, and normal computer function. I installed a new motherboard battery, with no benefit.
Any suggestions?, please.

restrict RAM usage

Is there any way to restrict the usage of memory of RAM used in the system?
i.e. If i have a 1GB RAM used in a computer, can i restrict the OS to use only a part of the RAM (may be 256MB) and remaining as inaccessible, so that the computer shows only RAM capacity as 256MB.
Please suggest me whether this is possible??

Hard Drive/Motherboard Swap

I have two computers, an HP and a Compaq. The HP is older with a slower CPU and has much more fan noise. The problem is that the HP has a lot of financial data on it that I want to preserve. Both computers are on Windows XP, SP2.

Can I just swap the hard drive from the HP to the Compaq? I know that I'll have to go into the BIOS so the Compaq will be set up properly for the HP hard drive. Is there anything else?

Hi Guys,

I recently started having freeze up issues with my ram (half of it anyway)

I immediately took out the modules and found that a pair of them are at fault

So, I proceeded to send them back to corsair, Got an RMA and all the rest of it...

Then I got my replacements back, but guess what - the same problem!

I am at a loss as to why this is happening..!

Its 8GB i had in my system, and 4GB (2x2GB) pair of modules is the problem ram.

so currently im on 4GB.

My first thoughts when the replacement ram also had an issue, was that perhaps the RAM slot is where the problem lies, on the Motherboard, but after having moved the OK Ram in to those slots, its still, absolutely fine.

The details of my system and ram are:

RAM: Corsair XMS2 6400 800Mhz

Motherboard: Asus P5B Wireless solo AP

CPU: Intel Duo Core E6600 2.4Ghz

Hope someone can help!

Intel DP35DP motherboard memory problem

I put togther a computer with the Intel DP35DP motherboard. Had it running with two separate 1gb 800mhz memory chips. I bought 2 sets and I was only able to get 2 of the 4 to work. Memory had a lifetime warranty so I sent all 4 back in. The company OCZ sent me supposedly 2 matched pairs. Put 1 1gb strip in computer worked. Tried 2 -no go, tried 4 no go. Call Crucial an bought 2 2gb that supposedly gauranteed to work No go. Any suggestions?

Tried upgrading memory, now monitor is blank.

Ugggghhhh! Tried upgrading my Dell Dimension 8100 from 128 MB to 1Gb (2x512 cards) Got the cards, put them in, got 3 long beeps, no monitor screen and 2 orange lights (instead of green) under my keyboard plug in. Oh, now my old memory doesn't work either. After this happened, looked at the cards and realized they shipped ECC cards for my non-ECC motherboard. I hear that ECC can work with non-ECC but, obviously, it didn't work in my case. Should I exchange for the non-ECC cards? Did I know just enough about computers to zap mine? I'm at a loss right now. Please advise.

prss F2 to start default operating system
and show with other more thing.

I just bought 2 samsung 512mb ram (pc2100, sodimm) on ebay but when i received the rams it doesn't say anywhere that they are samsung rams. So when i asked the seller he says that if i didn't receive samsung rams then it means that it's stock was over and i was sent a Micron technology ram instead and he also says MT rams are among the best out there.

But how do i know if i truely receive an MT ram and not some fake ones? Is MT ram better than a samsung one??

Should i report him to ebay?

boot problems

i have a hp pavillion a1000. it had always worked fine until one day i powered it on and the button stuck in and it promptly powered off again. i have since fixed the button but when i power on the light on the button stayed orange instead of turning blue, the fan spins but nothing happens. please help.
