Hello,
First post, and I'm not entirely certian it's in the correct place. It could be in mobos, I suppose.

Here's the long version:
I bought some new memory, bumping up my slow 1gb to better 2gb. This is all fine. Works well for a day, then one of the chips steps off the ledge, and pc won't boot into XP or Ubuntu. Memtest 86+ shows more fails then I care to repeat. I return RAM and get new. Come home and plug it in. Hmmmmmm, pc won't even post. Take the new RAM out, old back in, still won't post. Reset cmos, and we're off to the races. To reset the cmos, I had to unplug my 1.5tb WD SATA drive (my os's run on a 250gb WD IDE). I had left it unplugged, in case I had to reset again, so when I booted okay, I plugged it back in. Restarted just to be sure, and once again, no post. Unplug SATA, and everything is fine, and I can plug it in, in both XP and Ubuntu and the drive works perfectly. It just can't be plugged in when I restart, or the computer won't post. And for some reason, it decided to do this tonight, when I installed new RAM (identical to RAM that already worked in my system).

So, any ideas? I would rather not have to plug my SATA drive in manually everytime I boot.

Thanks in advance for the help,
Chris

I am posting because my sony vaio screen is not working. i believe it is an SR and i ordered it about august of 2008. when i turn the computer on, the screen goes white, and then, slowly, vertical very skinny lines start to appear in different colors, but dont cover the whole screen horizontally. then, purple-ish blackish smog-looking stuff starts to form around the outsides or the screen, creeping in. Eventually, a few minutes later, the screen turns white and the process repeats. I know the actually hard drive and computer are fine because i can still scan my finger and hear it logging on. But otherwise, i can not get the screen to work. I can take a video of this process if necessary. Thanks.

Hey,

I just put together my first custom built PC. I ordered all the parts from newegg, just for reference. Everything was going fine, put it together with little to no problems. Turned it on,it posted, and I started to install windows 7 on it. About a quarter of the way into the setup (it had just started installing the OS files and such) there was a sharp high pitched humm from inside the case and I BSOD'd and it shut itself down. It now wont do anything. Every once in a while if I try turning it on the case lights and fans and all start for just a split second before shutting down. This seems to only happen when i unplug it and plug it back in.

Can anyone hopefully offer and insight to what might of happened, or to what possibly died?

Thanks!

I'm a bit confused with what I need to get what I want here.

Fist I should let you know about the setup here.
My house has only normal cable, so for any HD content I would net to get the broadcast version.

Do TV tuner cards include a built-in antenna? Or would I need to get one and plug it in to the card?

And of that's the case, I'm having trouble finding cards with 2 inputs. In this case I would need the antenna input (so I could get the broadcast channels in HD instead of SD) as well as one for cable (which I realize is only SD, but better then no-D lol).

All the cards I've found from poking around Newegg have only the one input, which leads me to believe they all assume everyone who wants a TV tuner card has digital cable/satellite.

So, can anyone recommend (preferably from Newegg) a TV card that either has a built-in antenna or has 2 inputs that would accommodate an antenna input as well as a standard cable input?

I don't care about is having more than one tuner- I don't plan on recording. I do prefer PCI-e over standard PCI, obviously. System req's are not a concern as I have a rather beastly machine.

A couple of months ago DaniWeb reported how British singer Lily Allen turned the music copyright debate into a copywrong farce with some ill conceived blogging. Things went quiet soon after the media had swarmed all over Allen and her odd arguments, not least as she closed down her blog complaining of getting too much abuse.

Now, following an interview with the music press it seems that Allen has jumped straight back into the controversy with both feet. This time she appears to be confusing price and value, claiming that she wants her fans to appreciate the value of her work and if that means buying a ripped and burned copy of a CD then that's OK - "as long as the person buying it places some kind of value on my music" there's no problem she said.

As Mike Masnick over at Techdirt observes "Her earlier complaint was that when people file share, they don't provide money back to the artists and the labels. Of course, when counterfeiters are selling on the street, the same thing is true, but suddenly it's okay? At what point does the world realize that Ms. Allen doesn't know what she's talking about?" - well quite!

How do you remove the on off panel from the laptop? Can the panel be removed without getting into the laptop?

I am trying to fix a stuck power on off button. I read a thread that was 3 months old where cleaning the panel helped solve the problem.

Thanks for any advice offered.

I just bought my new AMD Phenom x4 and a new mobo. I installed Everest Ultimate just now and noticed that the sensor report is the following
CPU 78 C
Core 1 37 C

Core 3 37 C

Cooling Fans
CPU 2897 RPM

Core temperatures look ok but CPU says 78 is this normal, and in theory aren't they all the same physical thing? I am using the heatsink and fan that came with the chip and the thermal paste was pre-applied.
I have had a problem in that I cant get windows to see my drives in "My Computer".

I had first of my DVD/RW Writemaster SH-S222 which is seen in BIOS and device manager although it has the yellow mark by it.

Then i tried my other DVD, not a R or RW drive, same result. So i put the non writer drive on a usb external kit and it worked but due to installing updates etc due to new build, after 2 restarts it was no longer working, yellow mark in device manager.
Both drives are in device manager but with yellow mark.

I have spent 2 hours swopping these drives around. I have uninstalled re-installed, tried updating, using different IDE cable tried nearly everything.

I even tried this registry fix I found http://forums.techguy.org/windows-xp...ognize-cd.html 3rd post down
I do not know what to do know, new board, x4 processor and I cant even load COD 4 onto the machine, :-(

HELP PLEASE

My roommate's laptop stated:

Primary hard disk drive 0 not found
No bootable devices--strike F1 to retry boot, F2 for setup utility

This problem was so immediate, we don't know what happened.
It sounds as if the hard drive may be crashing but I have a rare circumstance.

One of my roommates is an ex-military intelligence officer. He is divorced, alone, and a severe alchoholic. We told him today that if he doesn't get better (he can't control himself when he's drunk) that he will have 30 days to get better or he'll have to move back in with his parents. When he gets mad he takes it out on the other people in the house, like a drunk form of revenge.

Hi guys,

Recently, my mainboard became faulty and I sent it for a replacement. When the board came back, i fix back my AMD Athlon 64 X2 4800+ cpu and i applied a new coat of thermal compound. I then installed the game Borderlands and my PC kept turning itself off. So i suspected it could be my processor overheating. I reapplied another coat of thermal compound, this time a thinner layer and my PC stills run hot at 50-60 degrees when idling. Therefore, I went to purchase a reputable thermal compound, Gellid GC Extreme and applied. Thank god the temp became 49 to 52 degrees at idle. However, when I started playing borderlands, the temperatures shoots up to a whooping 73 degrees. From what I know(if i'm not wrong), my CPU max temp is 65 degrees so I am realli afraid I would burn my CPU. I did not overclock.

Pls advise. Is 73 degrees too hot for my CPU? If it is, what is wrong and what can I do? Possible that the CPU is faulty thus resulting in the increase in temp? Or is it the way i applied my thermal compound or its time i change my CPU heatsink?

Until Motorola came out with the Droid, they were the forgotten cell phone company, but it wasn't that long ago that everyone wanted one of their phones: the Razr. This was in 2004, in the days before the iPhone when smart phones were found only in the pockets of executives and sales people. The Razr was thin and sleek and it flipped open in a very cool way. But after that, Motorola all but disappeared -- until now.

It's clear that Motorola recognized this was an opportunity and they have seized it, building a great feature-filled phone running Google's Android phone OS, but will it be enough to bring this company back from the dead in the cell phone market?

Hands-on with the Droid

I like to get my hands on a phone and see how it feels, so I took a pilgrimage to my local Best Buy yesterday where I encountered a sales person who was as enthusiastic as I am about gadgets. I asked her about the Droid and with a gleam in her eye she removed one from her pocket and handed it to me. I was immediately struck by its weight. This is one solid phone (maybe too heavy for some), one which should survive a fall. As I pushed open the keyboard, I was impressed with the large keys (for a cell phone). I played with the controls. I oohed at the 5 Megapixel camera. It was nice.

She showed me some video that she took with Droid in-store and it was amazingly clear. She pointed out that the one draw-back was it was such high-quality, it created large files and she needed to connect it a computer to share it. To get to the memory card, you need to pull off the battery case, not the most convenient method in the world, but it didn't detract from my overall positive feelings about this phone.

Not Perfect By Any Means

When I tweeted about my experience (alright I was gushing), some of my followers pointed out short-comings. People actually didn't like that keyboard, I suspect because the keys are flat, making it hard to type by feel. Another person pointed out a strange bug with the camera and the fact it's not a multi-band phone. These are real issues for consumers, but people appear to be still buying this phone.

Sales Are Decent

The Wall Street Journal reports that analysts are estimating first week sales of around 250,000 units. This is pure speculation, however, because Verizon wasn't saying. Compare this with the iPhone 3Gs, which sold 1.6 million units in its first week and it doesn't look as good, but as the article points this was a US-only release and the iPhone was an established product.

Bottom line, this is a nice phone and Motorola should be proud. Whether it will be enough to help them return to respectability in the cell phone game remains to be seen, but this is a great start and it's something to build on.

The backstory:

We had a "power issue" here a few days ago and now our Samsung SyncMaster 931b is not working. The blue power light around the button flashes and every second or so the display will flicker with light and you can briefly (for 200ms or so, I'd guess) see the display.

From what I gather, this is due to a voltage flicker through the transistors in the power supply tricking the monitor into thinking it's being shut down so I take it apart and notice three swollen caps on the power supply board (Samsung IP-35155A, components C113, C112, C316, 470uF 25V, 820uF 25V and 820uF 25V, respectively). I figure those are what are feeding the transistors and they're hosed and it's screwing with the operation of the monitor. A capacitance check of each shows about 16uF. Bad caps; I'll get some more from DigiKey and replace them and hopefully that fixes the flicker problem.

The new issue:

I guess I wasn't paying too much attention when I took it apart so I'm wondering where everything goes. I think C113 is the 470uF and the other two are the 820uF caps, but I'm not sure. Can anyone verify that?

Also, I wasn't paying attention to where the connectors for CN301, CN302, CN0303 and C304 went. They all have the same wire colors, are all the same keying, etc. and they are grouped into sets of two which have heat shrink around them so I can't tell where they go. The picture here shows a simple diagram with the connectors marked with a red box. What are these connectors for and how should they be hooked up? Is it just lamp power? Does it make a difference if CN301 and CN302 are switched and/or CN303 and CN304 are switched?

Dear friend,
Very recently I have connected my Samsung SyncMaster 940NW to Gadmei external tv tuner card and everything was ok except bad picture for low signal quality. Then I connected set top box to it and it improved the picture quality but at the same time horizontal bars of 1-2 mm thickness with 2-3 cm gap are coming in the whole monitor. I think that there is no problem in the monitor (no horizontal bar when set top box is not connected or used as computer monitor) and in the set top box (I have checked with different lcd panel).
So, friend, what's going wrong? Anyone with any idea and experience will be very much appreciated........Thanks in advanced.

What should we consider in allocating the appropriate number of bits
to the op-code, operand and general purpose register fields.

Our architecture is going to support 2000 different commands and
access 250 different general purpose registers. We are not sure how do
we calculate the total length of IR and total number of direct
addressable locations.

For 2000 instructions, our opcode is going to have 11 bits, 8 bits for
250 different registers. Total IR length would depend on our operand
size, we are not sure how to calculate that actually.
My girlfriend's computer's processor fan went out recently, and after searching for a replacement, I found one, ordered it, and installed it. It fit and plugged in (a 3 pin connecter in a 4 pin socket). Then I closed the system unit and hooked everything back up, and powered up. The computer ran for about 30 seconds, and then suddenly shut off. When I tried to power back up, it gave a beep error code: High, Low, High, Low (all 4 long tones), which I haven't been able to find while researching the problem. I unplugged every thing and opened the case, made sure everything was connected correctly and it was. I tinkered around with it off and on all day, even plugging it into the system fan port 2, with the same result. Thinking maybe it was incompatible, the next day I opened my computer's system unit and hooked the fan up to the system fan port 2 on my motherboard. When I powered on my computer, it ran for a good several minutes, so I assume that means that the fan is good, yet incompatible with the motherboard and/or processor. The only thing that I noticed was that the connector on the first fan was a brownish color, as were the ports on my motherboard, whereas the ports on her motherboard and connector of the failed fan were white (have not been able to locate information as to if this is a color code). After some more research, I think I may have found a fan that will work with her computer, but before I buy it and it turns out to be a waste of money too, I wanted an expert opinion. Thank you for taking the time to read and/or reply to my message, I greatly appreciate it.

Verizon made an ad making fun of AT&T's 3G coverage (and it's manliness). AT&T wasn't happy because it suggested their 3G coverage was spotty. So they sued saying the ads were misleading consumers, and anyway they had way more customers and their customers loved them, and Verizon just couldn't handle that. Verizon counter-sued saying AT&T was just jealous and their network sucks (and its mother dresses it funny). Now word is they are going to have a fight after school on the playground.

Playing Legal Mind Games

According to Engadget, AT&T sued first saying:

"Verizon's misleading advertising tactics appear to be a response to AT&T's strong leadership in smartphones. We have twice the number of smartphone customers... and we've beaten them two quarters in a row on net post-paid subscribers. We also had lower churn -- a sign that customers are quite happy with the service they receive."

Apple Insider Reports that Verizon did all but stuck out its tongue in court and say "na-na boo-boo" to AT&T in its counter-suit:

"AT&T did not file this lawsuit because Verizon's "There's A Map For That" advertisements are untrue; AT&T sued because Verizon's ads are true and the truth hurts."

They go onto say that the truth (at least as Verizon sees it) is that AT&T has failed to invest adequately in its network (and it's ugly too).

Lawsuits as Marketing Strategy

Verizon is clearly trying to gain some publicity points with this kind of stance (and heck, I'm blogging about it, so it's working). They want to put AT&T on the defensive. They know the Droid is selling well and gaining some traction and they want to get some of that attention that AT&T has garnered for having the iPhone. Makes perfect business sense, even if it sounds a bit immature and undignified in practice.

They Both Suck

Let's face it, if you're a consumer, they both suck and you don't need a judge to tell you that. As consumers, we are generally caught between a rock and a hard place when it comes to cell service. We get a nice phone for a discounted price in exchange for a 2-year contract tying you to said provider.

Then they nickle and dime you for data fees and texting charges. They send you long, complicated bills, which are hard to read and impossible to dispute. Have you ever tried calling AT&T or Verizon for tech support or with a question? Have you gone into their stores? Neither one is likely to win a popularity contest any time soon.

A Pox On Both Their Houses

Fact, is most people don't like either company. We go with them because there a few reasonable alternatives out there. Let them beat each other over the head with frivolous law suits. They just have to realize that for most of us, it's entertainment and nobody really cares about either one of them enough to take sides.

Got my new PC last week, and yesterday i got my copy of WindowsXP 64-bit Edition Upgrade (the trial one). I currently have WinXP Professional.

Tried to install it, but the setup won't detect my hard drive. Which is impossible since my PC is working mighty fine as it is.

The HDD is a SATA, the motherboard is a GB K8T-something, the AMD64 based one.

During setup, Win will ask me to press F6 if i want to setup a 3rd party SATA HDD, which i did, but then it comes back saying i need a floppy with the drivers. Which i only just found so i'll try this when i get home tonight. The thing is, if my PC is working fine now as it is, it means it already has the proper drivers, so why is the upgrade not detecting it?

As i said i could only fiddle around for a few minutes last night, will check this out properly during the weekend...

But am i missing something?

Any help would be greatly appreciated...

(or i'll just forget about this bloody WinXP-64, although it would have been nice to try it out)

I am only thinking of 2GB of RAM now due to lack of money but I will probably ly take up to more later. So far I am intending to use my current case and Graphics card-GEForce 8500 GT and my sound card-CA0106 Soundblaster.

If i were to get a new case I saw this one for a good price and decent reviews http://www.ebuyer.com/product/136491 That case comes with 450w PSU but if I didnt get that case would my current 400w PSU suffice?

Can I have your thought please on the parts whats good bad etc... please note I am on a budget of around £300 so far I think its about £273.

I would also use my current XP home 32 bit, obviously if I were to go about 3.5 GB then I would probably get Win 7 64

Many thanks

While most reporters and bloggers today are trumpeting the fine showing by chip-maker AMD in the semi-annual list of the world's Top 500 Supercompting Sites, for me the real news is what AMD has planned for next year. In the first quarter of 2010, AMD is scheduled to begin shipping a processor that will include not only 12 cores, but also the vastly expanded memory bandwidth to support them.

Code-named Magny-Cours, the processors will offer four channels for DDR3 memory, twice that of its 6-core Opteron top-performer, which by the way powers what is today considered the fastest supercomputer in the world. AMD further boasts this week that five of the top 10 systems on the November list have AMD inside. DDR3 doubles the transfer rate of DDR2, effectively quadrupling bandwidth when available over four channels instead of two.

"A processor with four memory channels and 12 cores will be a very appealing option for film rendering and virtualization of high performance computing," said John Fruehe, director of business development at AMD's Server and Workstation Division, in a confidential group phone briefing Friday. It will be a natural, he said, for the types of things being done in the film industry, where Intel has a stronghold.

But the news isn't all upside; all of AMD's new processors, starting with the Magny-Cours, will require all new system hardware. However, AMD says that the socket infrastructure will support its 16-core processors coming in 2011 and beyond.

So I bought a duster but I didn't know you shouldn't spray it up-side down. So I did it.. About 2 weeks later, the ethernet plug on the side stops working. Then a week later, the computer won't even start up. Then I open the case and found a lot of white crystal residues everywhere. I'm sure the power supply is functioning right, it's the other components not running. I can't order those parts.
I'm wondering is there anyway to fix the problem without replacing those parts?
Thanks in Advance!

Hi all. Bear with me, I promise this will be hardware related in a minute...

I'm working on a project for which I need to generate some FSK. I'm doing so by using a sin(...) function to calculate the values along the wave for N periods of frequency A and M periods of frequency B, both of duration T, and storing them in a buffer. I tried using the waveOutWrite function to play the buffer that I created, but it ended up creating a complex sine wave which, for the most part, looked like I wanted it to (frequency wise) but it looked pretty fat and ugly on the oscilloscope. I zoomed in on it and it had another sine-looking wave running along the major sine wave, which made the FSK get all hosed up. To fix this, I ended up creating my own WAV file and put the data from the buffer in that, saved the file to disk and used PlaySound(...) to play it.

Here's where it gets hardware (I think...possibly) related. Take for instance the low bit frequency, 1562.5 Hz. When I play it on the development PC (a dell with what shows up as a microsoft sound device, SoundMax Integrated Digital HD Audio) it is coming out too fast and hoses up the FSK...it looks on the scope to be about 1572.3. When I play them from the device on which it's intended to be played (Intel board with RealTek ALC662 audio chip) it comes out dead on at 1562.5.

And here are my questions: Why the heck is it behaving like this? Does it have something to do with the dell audio device being integrated and perhaps running off of the system clock rather than a dedicated audio clock which could be messing up the sample rate or something whereas the RealTek has a dedicated audio chip which, presumably, has it's own clock rate?

As an interesting side note, as far as I can tell, the WAVEFORMATEX WAVEOUTCAPS only seems to support up to 44.1kHz sample rates, so that's what I'm using as of now, but the RealTek ALC662 data sheet says that it does up to 96kHz. When I used 96kHz (even though WAVEOUTCAPS doesn't seem to know about that frequency) for the sample rate with the waveOutWrite file, it made a simple sine wave that looked fine on the scope. Why would that behave that way? Is it because the chip knows about it and I'm telling the software to tell the chip to use that frequency and if the MS functions don't know about that frequency then it's their problem, not the software or the chip's? Is there something magical about the 96kHz frequency that makes it work (being the chip max or something) or would some other [evenly divisible] lower frequency likely also make a nice wave? (although none that I tried seemed to)

My problem is that when running a diagnostic program like CPUZ the processor is displayed at the correct amount but only runs to 1.2 ghz maximum. Even when I put a load on my computer such as playing a game or running background programs, the current state does not increase. My CPU sits a multiplier of 6 and refuses to change, it does not scale up or down according to any usage on the computer. I am plugged in, power settings have the processors maximal and minimal state at 100%. I have the most current BIOS for my motherboard and I am under the impression that SpeedStep is not installed on my board/OS. I have looked in the BIOS and have no availability to configure my CPU speed or any other processor related function. There is no SpeedStep or C1E information in my BIOS either. Any help would be appreciated, I have no idea why my laptop is scaling my CPU down and not increasing it. My laptop does not run hot, and it is clean of dust.

The BlackBerry Developer Conference concluded yesterday, but not before Research in Motion had the chance to unveil enhancements to its BlackBerry Application Platform, which now supports OpenGL ES, a subset of the desktop graphics API specification for embedded systems. Useful for development of 3D games development and other graphics, it's standard equipment on phones based on Android and Symbian OS, and is among several of iPhone's graphics libraries.

RIM also announced the release of BlackBerry Theme Studio 5.0, a free suite of tools it says simplify the design of custom interfaces, illustrations and animations for devices running BlackBerry OS 4.2.2 or higher. The suite, which replaces the Plazmic Content Developer’s Kit, can import Photoshop files and includes access to a home screen layout, fonts, icons, message list colors, cursors and dialog boxes, the company said.SVG graphics can be created using BlackBerry Composer, for adding illustration and animation to buttons, backgrounds, web sites and BlackBerry apps. On devices running BlackBerry OS 5.0 and higher, developers also can add ringtones and transition between screens by zooming, sliding, wiping and fading.

Also this week in separate announcements, Research in Motion said it will add a Java GUI builder to its Eclipse-based development environment, announced the ability to use Adobe Flash and Creative Suite authoring tools to target BlackBerry devices, and unveiled new services slated for 2010 that will let applications be aware of their geographic location and push content accordingly. One might, for example, pop the question "Thirsty?" as devices pass a juice bar. Think of the treasure that Starbucks might be willing to bestow upon the developer of such an application.

Cellphone manufacturer Samsung has taken everyone by surprise by announcing its own operating system Bada - Korean for 'ocean' - will launch in December.

The intriguing question is why the company wants to do it. The Smartphone arena is at the moment dominated by a handful of players - Google's Android is making a lot of noise and when the dust settles we'll see where the market puts it (my guess is that it'll do well); Windows Mobile is doing well in the corporate market, so is Symbian, which also has a major toehold in the consumer market alongside the iPhone. Palm may be about to make a major re-entry if the Pre does as well as it hopes.

Samsung, with the Omnia, Toco and other models, has done well in the Windows Mobile market. It's one of the major suppliers. So, what's it trying to fix with a new OS?

We can only speculate. It's either a technical or commercial issue. Technical is difficult; the phones work at the moment so if there's an issue, it's an issue with future releases. Maybe Samsung wants more freedom to dictate its own future rather than hang around and add its overlay (which I find awkward to use) to the Windows Mobile OS. It could also be commercial; some reports suggest Samsung will scrap its Symbian phones in favour of Bada - maybe Symbian is charging too much for its system? Or maybe it's a technical thing with Symbian?

At the moment it looks like a lot of fuss over fixing something which, basically, works. Unless it can do to the market what Apple did with the iPhone two years ago (and I'd predict it won't), I can't see a reason for Bada that's public just yet.

And yes, Sopranos fans, I suppose if it adopts Microsoft's new(ish) search engine then that will make every search a Bada Bing.

Hello,
I am new user now,but i saw some solutions that makes me believe and trust on you that i can get 100% satisfaction solution from u.
About my Home PC problem is:
By the past 4 days ,Our PC is not booting when i press the CPU button,no light in CPU button,no fan sound inside CPU,nothing else.
When i kept this machine like this after 2 or 3 hours, when i comeback and see, our Home PC is booting up automatically and opening OS smoothly, there's no inbetween error or anything else, just running smoothly.
But if we shut down and switch ON the CPU after 30 minutes or 1 hour, the above same problem exists as we press the CPU button,it doesn't powers ON...but if we see after 3 hours , our PC is booting up normally without any error screen messages and opening my OS Vista Ultimate and also XP [dual OS]

what might be the problem happening like this always, any SMPS power problem or in motherboard or in memory RAM card, or in Backup UPS or ...what exactly the problem it is happening everytime for us.

Please HELP US that i mostly trust U

our Home PC configuration as below:
Intel MotherBoard DG35EC
Intel Core 2 QUAD Processor Q6600@2.40GHz
2GB DDR2 Kingston RAM
OS - Vista Ultimate 32-bit operating system[service pack 1]-First option
- XP Professional Service Pack 3
Monitor- 19inch LCD Viewsonic VX1940W
DVD writer[internal-serial-ATA]- Samsung SH-S223F
Video and Sound- Inbuilt motherboad
SMPS - 400W
UPS -APC Back-UPS ES 500

Our PC is going to be 1 year old by next month[december-26th]

My PC is assembled with branded components with help of my known computer engineer friend[very distant friend].
Also i want to mention about my motherboard that i saw a green light still glows in my motherboard without this CPU doesn't boot, also even when in working condition, my PC time also going slowly within this 1 year to complete my 1 st New Home PC system anniversay. How is it possible that my PC time changed slowly, always keep on changing every time .
My Latest situation is from sunday onwards , my PC didn't boot at al even when i press the CPU power switch button in the morning, then no boot up..
By the previous day i switched the CPU power switch ON in the morning, then in the evening at 5:30 only, my PC booted up and worked normally till my night sleep before go to bed. Then on next day[sunday], i cleaned my PC to remove some dust with soft brush, not by disconnecting all the power supply, just removed all the connection by the back of the components like monitor wire, mouse, keyboard, ethernet, speaker wire,..and also remove[unplugged] my 2 GB RAM memory card and put it back into same slot, didn't do disconnected Hard disk cable,DVD drive cable, and rest of the wire was connected to motherboard i didn't touched it at all.
Then my PC didn't totally booted up till i waited for the evening and also by night time.
Till so far i didn't touched my CPU because of nervous and if i touch it didn't go wrong by major problem of afraid.
Tell me so far i told my PC condition now, what might be the problem exactly, then what i supposed to do now...

You don't have to have lived in Haight-Ashbury in the Sixties to achieve self-awareness in San Francisco. BlackBerry developers are gathered in the city this week for the annual BlackBerry Developer Conference, taking place now through Thursday. Among the top stories is a new service platform from Research in Motion that will enable developers to build location-aware applications that can include advertising, collect payments or generate other location-based activities or services. Maybe a text message will inform you as you walk past the Red Victorian Hotel that its Peace Cafe just received a shipment of tie-dye shirts, for example.

Making it possible will be BlackBerry Advertising Service, which will allow ads to be integrated with applications, to generate revenue and to make mobile advertising easier, the company said. Set for availability next year, the service will include access to advertising networks such as those managed by Jumptap and 1020 Placecast and to geographic information systems such as those managed by Navteq. It also will be possible, the company said, for ads to tie directly with BlackBerry features such as making a call, adding to the calendar or contact database or accessing BlackBerry's App World. Of course, reporting will include impressions, clicks, conversions and integration with the Omniture Web analytics system (acquired last month by Adobe).

One service available now only to top-tier developers is the BlackBerry Push Service, which next year will be opened up to all registered developers. It allows time-sensitive content and payload to be pushed to applications.

All the services and relevant SDKs are slated for availability by mid-2010.

The disk is not registering in BIOS and so I opened the laptop and discovered the hard disk is missing, so I replaced it with a 60GB IDE Disk and still I am getting the same msg. I tried another 20 GB Hard disk but still get the same msg. I tried both disks on another laptop and they are being detected perfectly.
I am suspecting the BIOS to be corrupt, can some one help ASAP.

News Story Shocking news as Nokia recalls 14 million phone chargers

It is something of a good and bad news day for mobile phone giant Nokia. On the same day that it announces shipping of the new N900 handset, based on the open source Maemo 5 software, Nokia is also recalling a staggering 14 million mobile phone chargers due to concerns that they represent a potential electric shock hazard.

Although Nokia itself states that it has started an exchange program for "a limited number of Nokia-branded chargers manufactured by a third party supplier" it is understood that the number involved is actually 14 million.

It seems that the plastic covers can come loose and expose internal components which could, potentially, pose an electric shock hazard as a result of touching these while the charger is plugged into a live socket.

Nokia says that the affected chargers are manufactured by Chinese company BYD between June 15, 2009 and August 9, 2009 and of model types AC-3U, AC-3E and those manufactured between April 13, 2009 and October 25, 2009 of model type AC-4U. The chargers might have been sold with a Nokia device or sold as an aftermarket accessory, so Nokia users are being urged to check all chargers to be on the safe side.

The exchange program and more information can be accessed here.

Meanwhile, the N900 has actually started shipping with an ARM Cortex-A8 processor and up to 1GB of total application memory. Forget about the 5 megapixel Carl Zeiss camera, or 32GB of storage that comes as standard, all anyone is talking about is the open source software it is based upon.

A Nokia spokesperson says "Nokia works closely with the developer community and has recently seen significant innovation happening with Maemo. As a result, people will be able to discover a wide range of games, utilities, themes, panoramic wallpapers and service plug-ins for photo-sharing and messaging for the Nokia N900 through Ovi Store and Maemo Select, starting later in the year. In October Nokia announced official Qt port to Maemo 5. This means developers can use Qt software to target the Nokia N900 and that applications can be easily ported to all Qt's supported platforms including the next Maemo 6 release as well as Symbian".

Hello, my first post.

My desktop monitor is displaying "no signal input". My desktop computer sounds like its running but i have no image on the monitor except that message, plus the power light is showing orange instead of green.

I unplugged the monitor and connected it to my HP Laptop - and set the laptop up to use the second monitor from the personalization menu in the control panel.
My laptop detects that there is a monitor present, yet when I set it up to show my desktop on both the laptop and external monitor, click on apply and ok, the desktop monitor is still blank with the power light still orange.

The monitor was working fine last night and previous to that. I've had no problems with it and it's plugged into a UPS.

Does this mean my monitor is dead? or is there something else I can do? Suggestions appreciated. Thank you very much. debmae

I recently decided to DL SP3 for my desktop. Not my shining moment, so here I am..

Im running an ASUS A8N32-SLI Deluxe mobo, AMD Athlon 4400+ processor on a system I built for myself a while back. Everything was great until I installed the above.

I am stuck in a continuous boot cycle, as the default XP setting is to restart upon crashing. When windows starts up, it goes into the startup options menu like it would if I was to hit the f8 key. It does not register my keyboard (G15, usb connection) - I dug up an old keyboard with a PS/2 connection and still no good. After the 30 seconds it starts up windows normally, just to crash after a brief flash of the blue screen..then repeat the cycle.

Being as how I can't arrow up to start in safe mode/get to recovery mode, I can not disable the "intelppm driver" which should, in theory, fix my problem.

Any suggestions?

Note: I have also tried the USB flash drive/secondary storage trick. I also have a copy of windows 7, but to put it on the same HD will erase my nearly full 750GB. I also have a new HD still in the box, but I want the contents of my current HD, so erasing/tossing it out is not in the equation.

Thank you very much in advance for any assistance!

I have a Gateway MT6706 laptop that will not power up. I was using a replacement Targus AC adapter because the original one shorted out. The new AC adapter seemed to start shorting out as well, but if I held the cord just right, then it'd charge the battery. The cord finally stopped working entirely, so I purchased a new cord. In the meantime, the battery was drained. When I plug in the new AC adapter with the battery in the laptop, a red light flashes on the front of the machine. This is the light that usually pulsates a glowing pink/magenta when the machine is charging. When I pull the battery out and just use the AC adapter, the machine does nothing. I've tested the AC adapter on my HP laptop from work with a different adapter tip and it worked fine with the HP, so I don't think the new AC adapter is bad. Is it possible that there is a problem with the jack on the laptop that you plug the AC adapter into? If so, how bad is that to get fixed? Thanks in advance for any help!

Hello,

I have an external USB 450 GB device. Recently, the files turned from My Documents to MYDOCU~1. This is also present when I insert other USB drives. If there is any way that I can change this without deleting all the files on the USB, please reply.

Also, if you believe this topic...
