Hello ...so im wanting to "dump" my laptop and start over... It got pretty messed up a while back when i installed a blue tooth device. Got it back online and working but still some things are not quite right! It was running win xp home edition and now somehow has parts of win xp professional??? So anyway i have a reinstallation cd for win xp home including serv. Pack 2 and that is the only disc i have. Someone please tell me if i can pull this off and/ or what is the best way to go about this???? Thanks so much

Access 2007 combo boxes not accepting input

Hi all,

I am having an issue with a form in Access 2007. I have a form with several combo boxes on it to allow the end users to select the name of a twon, the state it is in (in case there towns with same names in different states), a combo box to select a road or location to go through (this changes the distance between locations), and then a combo box each for the end location name and the end state. I have managed to get the first combo box to show all the possible starting locations (once only as the same town may occur multiple times, to show distances to other towns). The AfterUpdate property of this box is set to requery the beginning state combo box, whixh it does. Each following box is set to do the same, based on the data collected through user input up to this point. The problem is that while the second (the start state) combo box updates correctly (I used the following VBA code: cboStartState.Requery, in the cboStartName combo box), but I cannot actually select the resulting options to progress to the next combo box, hence the whole thing fails. I want to use all this data as query information to display the distance for the user's selected combination of options from each drop down.

Can anyone help?

Malwarebytes blocking

Hi,
I don't know if I am in the right site but...
I have just installed Malwarebytes, as per recommendations from posts here and I am getting a message saying that it has blocked access to a malicious site about 5 times a minute. Just about every time I try to access any site (Including this one) I get the message. it is for a few different ip addresses. I try to copy them but they are gone before I get a chance.
81.169.145.72 is one regular address that is blocked.
Is this normal for so many messages or do I have a problem with spyware? Can I turn off the message?

I am unable to install the latest security update for Windows Net 1.1 or whatever. I don't know why I need this update anyway as I have Net 3.5 SP1 (why not SP2?)

I am running XP Pro and have over a million files on a Dell 8200 vintage 2001 with 750 MB RDram and two new hard disks. This PC is linked to a Dell 9200 on which I have excluded Office software. The second PC is used for web design, video editing, and graphic applications. I am plagued with an update to Network 1.1 which won't install. I have posted my windowsupdatelog to the Microsoft Answers web and expect to receive advice in due course. But why do I need earlier versions of Net anyway? Can I get rid of them or is it best to leave installed software alone?

It looks like XXX@hotmail.com doesn't use Messenger yet(they actually do!). We sent an e-mail message to them with inttructions on how to connect with you on Messenger and on Windows Live.'

I find this really wierd, please help me.

I was trying to uninstall the trial version of Ms Office 2007. during that process my system got auto shutdown due to overheating.
Now i am unable to uninstall it. It exists in add-remove progs menu. and if i click on remove it says "Product installation corrupt. Run setup again from cd/dvd/ or other original installation source" .I dont have any source. this is slowing down my system. please help me ASAP...

PDF Email Attachment Does Not Reach Destination

Hi,
I'm not sure if this is the correct forum, so please let me know if there is another one that is more appropriate for this question… I have a home office/business and I'm using MS Outlook 2007 for emails. I'm trying to send an email that has a particular PDF file attached. For whatever reason, the email won't reach its destination if this specific PDF is attached. However, if I remove the attached file and send, the email goes thru. I have successfully been able to send other PDF attachments, but not his one. So, to figure this out in some creative ways, I tried to send an email w/attachment through a Yahoo account online, just to see if it is my ISP (IP address with Time Warner) or the company who hosts my company website (network solutions). However, even with the Yahoo account I cannot get the email w/attachment to reach any destination.
I'm perplexed. This is just a product datasheet in PDF format. I have sent it to many customers before with no problem. Also, I have not changed anything recently to this file. Can anyone figure this out? I have attached the PDF file to this thread. Maybe someone can try to send it to see if they see the same problem.
By the way, I find some other product PDF datasheets that wouldn't go through when emailed. The only common denominator that I can see is that these files have the letter "V" in the file name. But, how could this be the cause?

Downloading Large Files & getting CRC Errors

Hi guys,
I recently came across a small problem with downloading large files (using flashget or jdownloader). When extracting rar files, i was getting alot of 'CRC Errors - file is corrupt'.

After changing nic card, ethernet cables & so on, the simple problem was an update in AVG which was causing the problem.
By turning AVG's Link Scanner off will solve the problem.

Hope this helps anyone, as it took me days figuring it out.

Microsoft Exchange 2003 on Small Business Server 2003.

Within

Exchange System Manager > Servers > Servername > First Storage Group > Mailbox Store properties > Limits

the Keep deleted items for days & Keep deleted mailboxes for days are both set at 30.

Now, i know within Outlook you can go into Deleted Items and Recover Deleted Items but this happens on the client itself and only with 'soft deleted' items. Is there a way that items in 'Recover Deleted Items' can be viewed in some other way than on the actual users machine? Possibly recover to another Mailbox or the like?

I'm trying to figure out how to toggle between a checked box and unchecked box just by a mouse click over the character. I have Windows 2003. I figured out enough to get the option in the tool bar under "all entries," but what a pain to do that to every box I want checked.

Also, this document I'm working on will be a "password protected" document. I'm trying to recreate an existing "password protected" document so I KNOW that this can be done.

i installed MS Office home and student 2007 into my laptop.. and then i activated it.. the problem is.. i can use all of the apps(ms word, excel, ppt,etc) but not MS Access.. it prompts for a product key, but when i entered the product key, it says "The key is incorrect. Verify that you have the correct key, then retype it."

The installer should perform following actions:

1. License Terms: Accept/Reject selection by user
2. User must select installation folder, default is c:\......\......
3. Run a bat file/script to install mysql, activemq.
4. Run a bat file/script to configure the toolset
5. Install RiAMP as a windows service
6. Catch errors and display to user
7. Display confirmation

Please let me know if anyone has got any relevant information and or such installer. I have tried some like NSIS, GhostInstaller, Nvin installer, Witem installer etc. Unfortunately, none of them is appropriate for the java application prg. Thanks in advance.

Okay, I know this is really really simple, but for the life of me, my brother and I cannot get this to work properly.

We have a number in Cell D4(and down).
In E5 is the binary conversion of D4.
In F2-N2 we want to have the individual numbers of the binary sequence.

ie: In D4 is 258. So F2 should display 1. G2-L2 should display 0. M2 should have 1 and N2 should have 0

Outlook asks for name, domain and password

I've had it. I've tried everything, but Outlook keeps asking for a username, Domain and Password everything I open it.

This started occuring when the Server was upgraded to Windows 2008 and Exchange Server 2007 is the email server.

No problem with other programs. No problem accessing public folders on the server.

The Los Angeles City Council voted unanimously earlier this week to outsource its e-mail system to Google Inc., according to an article in the Los Angeles Times. The contract is worth $7.25 million and covers 30,000 employees.

In June, Washington, D.C. made a similar decision, signing a contract worth almost $500,000 for its 38,000 municipal employees to use Google's e-mail, spreadsheet and word- processing programs, giving them an Internet-based alternative to Microsoft Corp.'s Office software, installed on computers, according to Bloomberg.

Interestingly, the chief technical officer responsible for the decision was Vivek Kundra, now Chief Information Officer of the United States. The White House recently decided to migrate its website from proprietary software to Drupal.

Los Angeles plans to complete implementation of the Google system by June and will begin with a pilot period during which a limited number of employees will test the system, the Times said. City law enforcement agencies including the Los Angeles Police Department will migrate to the new system once they are satisfied with the security and functioning of the system.

Los Angeles worked on the decision for nearly a year, where Google competed with other software vendors, including Microsoft. "Parties on all sides believe that if smaller cities see Los Angeles successfully transition to Google's cloud system, they may be more likely to follow suit," the Times said.

Moving e-mail from Outlook on local PCs to Exchange server - e-mail not transferring

Good morning!

We are currently in the process of moving e-mail providers and moving to an Exchange server housed at our data center. What we were told to do was to create the Exchange account in Outlook so that we would have two profiles - the 'old' profile and the new Exchange profile - and simply drag-and-drop the e-mails, subfolders, calendars, etc. from the old profile to the Exchange profile. This seems to work for the calendar, contacts, and even most subfolders. But when I try to move e-mails from the old Inbox over to the Exchange Inbox, the e-mails stay on the Exchange Inbox for 10-30 seconds and then automatically begin moving back to the old Inbox. I cannot get the e-mails to stay on the Exchange Inbox.

We are all running Windows XP and this issue is occuring on staff that are using Outlook 2002 and Outlook 2003. The Exchange server is running Exchange 2003.

The odd thing is that this is only happening to some staff - not all. I'm running Outlook 2007 and didn't have this problem. I also know of other staff that are running Outlook 2002 or Outlook 2003 and are not having this problem either. It's just a select number of people and I haven't been able to find a common thread amongst the affected people.

Anybody have any ideas as to why this is happening, and how I can get this resolved?

I want to check which windows files are missing or corrupted. Surely there is a program to do this? Chkdsk only checks the integrity of the disk, not of the files that might be missing and neccesary for windows. Any help?

All of a sudden my windows corrupted. Now whenever, i start any application, my pc restarts and then message is displayed that "windows has recovered from serious error". How to solve this problem?

It seems so elementary, yet the whole MS Kowledge Base never mentions it.
When you list your files, under the "details" option, there are columns for Name, Size, Type, Date Modified and then space for dozens of columns you can choose to add.

But NOWHERE does it say how you ADD things in these columns!

One column it lets you choose to have is "Key Words"
But HOW do you enter them!

I am on XP
In a thing called MS MediaPlayer there IS (extremely well hidden: congratulations Bill) a way to enter what you want in these columns. In this way you build a music library. It is GREAT!

So if Bill lets me have a MUSIC library, why not a FILE library?

Do I have to resort to the trickery of telling MS that all my files are "Music"

I'm running XP, on a Dell dimension 3100. Accidentally deleted the sound mixer app when clearing out unwanted stuff in my accessories folder - I've been to add/remove programs>add windows components, and tried to reinstall it but it then asks me for the xp disc which I no longer have.

Can't find anything on the internet to fix this problem.

Hi,

I captured Windows Vista image using Sysprep with some IP.
Now i am deploying this Image to machine that has different IP. The image is getting deploy properly but the problem is that it is showing two IP address.

EX:

Ip of machine which image to be captured : 192.168.233.125

IP of machine where this image to be deployed : 132.168.233.150

After deployment Ipcomfig command showing these two IPs.

I want that target machine should show its current IP not of captured image's IP.

Please help....

Outlook Send Issue

Have been using Outlook 2003/2007 for years with no major issues. Last week I found that the outbox on both of my machines were not clearing. My Outlook works with a third party internet email service. The incoming/outgoing servers and other settings were appropriate. I next opened a case with Verizon, my DSL service. They are suggesting that the outgoing port has been changed to 587 not 25. The tech went on to say that this change was initiated by Microsoft... Sounded like nonsense to me. Pinging smtp.onebox.com has repeatedly timed out. My suspicion is that Verizon blocked access to this server and doesn't care who is affected. The tech did start the process for a 'whitelisting' that should take one week. What else can I be doing to troubleshoot this issue?

hey guys, not sure if im in the right forum with this..
i was wondering if anything can be done to improve the quality of my video playback with what i already have. i'm using a dell vostro 200 with an evga 9500 1gb card and an e1909w monitor, running at 1440 x 900. i think that my dvds and dvd rips should be showing a little bit cleaner than they are right now..i use k lite codec pack, and i find that my playback is still a bit blotchy sometimes. games look awesome. its just my video playback im concerned with...any suggestions?

I'm having quite a problem with an installation.I'm trying to install NBA 2K10,which requires .NET Framework 1.1.Sadly,After the setup finishes (or so it seems) the "RegSvcs.exe" generates an exception that it can't handle,and the process id is always different.I tried reinstalling the framework via safe mode,and trying more setups for it,but no luck.My PC specs are:
CPU:Intel Pentium 4 3.00 GHz
OS:Microsoft XP Pro (5.1, Build 2600)
GPU: Nvidia EN8600GT
Motherboard: P5PL2

My Microsft word program has suddenly lost its spellchecker.

It gives the error message "Word cannot find the spelling file MSSpelll3.dll or Mssp232.dll".

I have done nothing to change it and restore has not worked. A search of the computer cannnot find the files.

The Woird program is a 2003 edition and I no longer have the disk or any details as I have moved several times. I am in the middle of writing job applications as my office closed last fortnight.

Using winrar to combine mp3 files

I hope someone can help me with some expert opinion on how Winrar works when creating an uncompressed archive.

My reason for wanting to know:

I have been told that, if you want to combine a lot of small mp3 files into one large file, which can be played as a single file, but still want to be able to break it back up into the original small files later, you can do the following:

Use Winrar to combine the small files into an uncompressed "store" archive. Change the file extension from .zip to .mp3 and viola! The archive, renamed .mp3, can be played as a single mp3 file. When you want to disassemble the file back into its component files, rename it to .zip and uncompress it.

I have tried this, and the large file can indeed be played as a single mp3 file on my computer or mp3 player.

However, as I don't understand what winrar does when it creates an uncompressed archive, I don't really trust this process. I have run the large file through a shareware program that tests the integrity of mp3 files, and it gives the message "garbage at end of file".

Can anyone explain to me what Winrar does when it creates an uncompressed archive, and whether there are any serious downsides to this process, which I, as a techno-newbie do not forsee?

(In case anyone is interested in why I would want to do this in the first place - I belong to a newsgroup where some people want audiobooks posted in their original format as large numbers of small mp3 files, whereas others want them posted as a small number of larger files. Zip or Rar files are not allowed on the newsgroup. So, some bright spark came up with the above compromise process - post one, large, seemingly mp3 file which can indeed be played as a single file - but which can be broken up into its component small files by people who prefer that format.)

I want to put all the files in the same directory - is there something that will automatically rename them or something so that they can all be in the same directory?

hi!!!i helped my friend reinstall an old fujitsu laptop,it has win 2000 and changed it to xp pro,problem is the screen is to small,i used to have this problem on other laptop but it has the screen resolution changer in its bios,now im lost with this one,its not in the display properties coz it just changes the font size and it does not have in its bios...i installed all the drivers correctly using drivermax...if somebody have any idea it will be very much appreciated..tnx!!!

I want to write System files in window CE Compact flash card so that it
boots from CF flash. The files are
1.Configuration file: bootcepc.cnf
2. Boot logo .pcx file: bootcepc.pcx
3. Kernel Image file (nk.bin)

To write i have just copied file's by copy and paste in Flash but it doesn't
work and i am getting error like "Boot failure" . I heard about a utility
named (makeCFUtility) used to write in Flash. But i don't know how to
download this utility.

Is there is any other way to write system files in Flash card.

I am using Advantech single board (PCM-3370 F) with 128 MB RAM . The OS used

I have downloaded trial version of System Mechanic 7.
When i try to run setup it says
"Software Conflict: The currently installed software Folder Lock is not compatible with System Mechanic and cannnot be used at the same time. Please uninstall folder lock before installling or using System Mechanic"

I had removed folder lock many months ago. but when i looked in program files there was a folder "Folder Lock" but no exe of folder lock in it . It only had some dlls... i deleted it. but still getting error.
I deleted keys in registry also but in vain.
