Most companies now will have flash tutorials which is basically a movie walkthrough that you can pause and play as you wish. Also hosting companies with no posts in their forums is not a bad thing....

Is the mysql server located on the same server as the site? Also if you could post your config.php file here but make sure and take out the username and password fields.
