Re: Annoying startup jingle

It should be noted that the chime is a sign of a successful POST (Power On Self Test), and can be quite useful for troubleshooting hardware issues.

Re: Flashing icons at start up. Takes forever to load! Argh!

I suspect what you did (and what you needed to do) was reselect your boot drive in the Startup Disk prefpane. Correct?

Re: DHCP Bad_Address Problem whith Macintoch OS X

In order for the name service to work properly, the DHCP client ID and the "Sharing name" should be the same on the Macs. And naturally they should not include spaces or non-alphanumeric characters.

Re: Windows on a mac?!

Not legally.

There were some kernel hacks that allowed 10.4.2 to be installed on a PC, but a "modern version" of OS X isn't installable on a regular "non-apple branded" PC.

Re: Wireless issues with PowerMac and iMac

IMO, there's no reason in the world to get an Apple wireless router. They are massively overpriced and your AirPort cards will work with pretty much any wireless router out there. And you can get...

Re: Upgrading Memory On A Power Mac G4

Well, PC133 RAM should work just fine in there. So if it's not showing up, try moving it to a new slot. If it STILL doesn't show up, then most likely it's either 1) the incorrect RAM, or it's a bad...

Re: Wireless issues with PowerMac and iMac

You should note that when you have mixed (802.11b & g) groupings like this, the wifi router will run at the slowest speed.
