i think i was a bit hasty in the last scan after i returned system restore and hidden view of the hidden files, i again found
trojan horse IRC/BackDoor.sdBot.DHV in

I think we finally did. we got rid of it :) . i did 2 scans yesterday one with avg and the other with norton and nothing was found. pc is acting normally (except of the oddly found new hardware...

i ran rootkitrevealer and it came up with 6 discrepencies, but when i saved the results i couldn't find where the file went so i ran it again but it came with only 5. the last one was missing, later...

i did what u told me. i didn't find mywebsearch, i ran hijackthis and fixed the 4 items u told me, but then i didn't find windows\ptcqqwd.exe (even after viewing hidden files). i reboote then ran...

i read once that i should do that b4 scanning to avoid returning of virus from old restore points :o , was that right or was i misinformed :eek:
