hmm, go to right click on my computer, manage, disk management. There you will be able to see your ext drive. it seems to me that you have one partition created and plenty of unused(not formated)...

i think it's possible, read the manual.

i'm not a guru in norton ghost, i use true image, and there is an option "create recovery boot disk". so i think the same should be in norton.

if you use win xp, then it's easy, just insert a blank cd disk into the drive. Then open it in "My Computer" and drag&drop files you want to burn there, after this click on the button burn to cd disk.

for your problem, you can delete your multimedia controller from the device manager, then reboot the computer and it would be reinstalled...
