Situation is now sorted. I was being a complete muppet by trying to load Windows Office (Word, Excel, P/point etc) instead of Windows XP.

Thanks for the advise. I have tried pressing F12 and requesting that the PC boots from disk but that same blue screen apprears. I don't know about BIOS, so not sure what I should do.

it is now working a little faster and also doesn't need to be re-booted/switched off so many times before it boots up properly and allows you to use it.
