down grade direct x

hi
i have installed dirct x 9.0 c on my windows 98 se. for playing need for speed 7 game i must use direct x 6. how can i delete direct x 9.0 and instal direct x 6.0

does it error on you when using dx9 or are you just saying that because it says you need it on the nfs disk, uninstall is not an easy thing as you can see and read .
