i am not able to listen any thing on linux os

i have installed vlc amarok xmms but not able to listen music or anything..
helf me how i can listen on my this operating system..what exactly to do step wise i am very new to this world.

Try these,

download MPlayer here http://www.mplayerhq.hu/MPlayer/rele...1.0rc2.tar.bz2, compile and make it. You can also obtain realplayer here http://www.soft32.com/download/63-89...ayer10GOLD.bin.
