I own a Dell Inspiron 1525 with the following Network Controllers:
Ethernet: Marvell Yukon 88E8040 PCI-E Fast Ethernet Controller
WLAN: Dell Wireless 1395 WLAN Mini-Card

I have installed "Sun VirtualBox" on my Vista Home Premium.
I have installed "openSUSE v11.1" using VirtualBox.

I cannot connect to the internet in LINUX.
The network settings on Virtual Box are as follows:

Network Adapter 1:
PCnet-FAST III (NAT)

SUSE detects only the ethernet port and identifies it as
79c970 [PCnet32 LANCE]
MAC: 08:00:27:b4:55:87
Device NAme: eth0
Started automatically at boot
IP address assigned using DHCP

How can I configure the settings in both Virtual Box and suse to connect to the internet. I am completely new to Linux so a little spoon-feeding will be appreciated.

how does your host computer connect to the internet? ethernet or wireless?

what i assume is that it uses wireless, and if so you need to make sure the guest machine has access to the wireless card.

I have both wired & wireless connections.
Can surf the internet in Windows, but cannot surf in Linux.

Ok, but which connection is the Internet connected to?

It should be a virtual box option, you should be able to select network devices for the guest.

What I meant to say was, I have two separate internet connections i.e. two different ISPs. One is wired & the other is wireless.

I just want to know where I can get network drivers for linux for my Dell Inspiron 1525.
Leave alone Virtual Box. I made a separate partition for linux.
Where can I get these drivers?

get ubuntu 9.10 it has almost all the drivers....

so what crash applies if you are willing to move to a different distro. if you want to stick to your distro, you should look into finding out the actual device, not the laptop model.

generally there isn't going to be a batch download for a model with linux, instead it will install whatever it can find at install time. after that you will need to look yourself. so find out the devices, and search on the openSUSE forums.
