Hi there,
I have windows XP.I tried to find this channel for movies but some unknown site came up,i tried closing it but it was taking long so tried to close it using taskmanager.suddenly it closed.I logged off and switchd off my laptop and now everytime i try to switch it on; it asks for my password as usual and then shows the windows XP screen after that there is a plain blank blue desktop.absolutly nothing else.once i pressed this f2 option but don't know what i am supposed to do from there.I did press set default settings.no luck:-((

Hi,
Have you tried starting in safe mode, tapping F8 after the first beep on boot-up. Start in safe mode with networking.
Sometimes, some of the windows protected files can be lost or changed. To detect any problems run the program “System File Checker” (SFC). Before you run it you should purge your PC’s cache:-
Go to “START”
Click “RUN”
Type or “copy and paste”.. sfc.exe /purgecache
Note:- the space after “exe”.
The “purgecache” in this command will empty the cache before you run the file checker. You should always purge the cache before scanning with the System File Checker (SFC). That way, you can be sure that system files are copied from your Windows installation media, and are not infected with malware or corrupted. After the cache has been purged, run System File Checker.
Go to “START”
Click “RUN”
Type or “copy and paste”… sfc.exe /scannow
Note:- the space after “exe”. You may be required to use your installation disk.
This could take a long time to complete, when finished, reboot and see if the problem still exists.
Just because you have a good virus detector and you scan your PC every day does not mean that your PC is clean. Even if your PC is clean, it can not hurt to check and rule out that problem. A very good site here is located at:-
http://www.daniweb.com/forums/forum64.html
If you have tried everything there and you are still having problems, then maybe a Windows repair is required. If you want to repair your installation with your Operating System disk, go to:-

You can follow the instructions there with photos or go to my instructions at:-
