check post 5 he's says extend is greyed out ,also i have win7 on a 80gig hdd and i can shrink it ,i have a 160gig ,partitioned into 2 equal parts and its greyed out on that two , i can shring but not extend

Wierd. Maybe its a "pro" feature because i can shrink C on Server 2008 R2?

I/we can shrink went cant extend ,and i will assume i will beable to extent the one drive i have partitioned when i format one of the partitions

my second drive is a 160 gig ,it was partitioned in 2 equal parts ,i only got the extend option in the first partition after i formatted the 2nd partition,it had available about 40 gigs to extend the first partition but would not do that ,i had to move data and format it first .

Yes, disk management has this shrink and expand feature, but it cannot move the partitions. Besides, disk management, there are some free partition magic alternatives. http://www.hdd-tool.com/partition-ma...lternative.htm
