the function attachEvent is IE specific, so if this code still doesn't work, this is a possible solution for IE browsers. And could be used as follows:

if( td.attachEvent ){
   td.attachEvent('onclick', 'alert("blabla")');
} else {
   td.setAttribute('onclick', 'alert("blabla")'); 
}
