have you moved or swapped internet providers recently?
and does any other internet based application work
such as instant mesenger

2 things you can check quick is
tools>internet options>
connections tab
and click the setup button to run through the wizzard

the other is in your controllpannel just check the network settings
sounds like you had a static dns and it changed or your provider changed
