The not so grand, alpha revealing of Tincap!

Please review my web site.

Please be brutally honest - I am open to any suggestions, on any topic (related to the site)!

Thank you, and Thanks Dani!

When I first go to the site, the first thing that I see is a default vBulletin install with default vBAdvanced or vBIndex CMS. Get some uniqueness in there! Even if it's just a color scheme that reflects what the site is all about and what is being offered.

Since all that I see is a default color scheme with nothing to give me an inclination of what the site is about, I naturally look at the top left for a logo for guidance. And all I see is a black hat - not very descriptive.

By this point I would have left. However, since I'm reviewing the site, I'll stick around a few more seconds I finally see the site is about weight loss, nutrition, health, and exercise. So why is every page of the site trying to sell Omaja filet mignon?! I would think a sponsorship with www.veggieboards.com would be more fitting

Now I find my way to the forums and I see how empty they are. Definitely get in posting there! Read the building a community forum and promotion techniques forum! Check out how to get the site rollin' - but before you do, get yourself a nice color scheme and skin and logo

I am trying to get a style as we speak, but I agree. I am trying to find one that is light, pastels, yet there is strong contrast.

Eh, yeah. Agreed. But it's short, and easy to remember, and everyone spells it the same.

Ah! That is because the site is NOT about a specific diet. It is about the comparison of diets, exercise, nutrition, and such. Omaha Steak is the King of Atkins dieters. :cheesy:

Well, I did say "alpha revealing"... I know I have to get posts, and posters. Right now I am trying to get a style, and purchasing some articles.

Next, I will push for posts, and some seeders. I am also contacting some local diet clubs and such, and offer them free space, calendar and even a dedicated forum, if they would like.

Thanks for the feedback. I am trying to find a recipe database for vB, but, no such luck.

to which part? I hired someone to do the style/template. It will take a few more days.

As for content, I have been posting messages at some "work-at-home-mom" kind of sites, asking for posts in lieu of advertising links, or even $$$.

I haven't done submissions to various sites just yet, so that is also holding me back.

I try to add at least 1 to 2 articles a week.

So that is how far I am.

i was just saying that the post about you changing the layout was a while ago and i havent seen a change, keep us informed if you happen to get your website off the ground and explain the different methods you went about in doing this.

etc...

hey

you've got alot of great info on your site. but it took me a minute to figure out what you site was all about. i think it was because of the black hat. the look of your site is not very exciting but the info on it is very useful.

Well, the site has gone through some minor tweaking. Now our logo is "better", and the content is increasing...

I have started two different "contests" with "cash" prizes but not much traffic.

I have been going back and forth on style. I do want to have a different look then the default vB, but not so much different that I have to struggle with upgrades or code modifications for other modules and plug ins.

I was thinking just changing the graphics. Anyone done something simple as that?
