Help Reg: Port Blocking within LAN

  #1
Oct 28th, 2005
Hi 2 everybody,
This z my first time 2 this forum...
I am doing my MS in iiit,Pune,India.

In our institute hostel, for each room Internet connection is available. Our people is used to transfer files across using IPMsg software( http://www.ipmsg.org/index.html.en). The speed can be up to 15 Mbps !!!...

Due to this Bandwidth utilization is more for that process...The actual Internet speed is very slow...It uses TCP/UDP port(default:2425). Source code is avaliable in above site...

This will not reach Proxy..We are working on to block this Port Number...But Unable to block...

If any one have idea, plz share with me...This not Harmful activity..

Awaiting for ur reply...

this is easy to fix. What kind of router do you have? For a residential router say a linksys router jsut console and block the port number you want. for a cisco router you would have to set up an Access Control List.
