Do you know of anything like this?

Well, I've seen stuff like this before.

Also, if it crashes in safe mode, it either means 2 things.

1) it boots with XP software
or
2) its a hardware/fan problem.

Try running Ewido in Safe mode, see what happens.

Be sure to post back the ewido scan log.
