If you are running Windows, AIDA32 will identify the motherboard brand & model, BIOS version, processor speed, and more. Unfortunately, development has recently ceased on this product.

There are alternatives, though. One recommended by the AIDA32 team is EVEREST Home Edition. Another well-known one is SiSoft Sandra. Either of these will provide a great deal of system information.
