I have a Gateway laptop. Up until a few days ago I could listen to CD's, watch movies & burn info to CD's.
Now it won't read anything. It says the disk is full when there isn't even a disk in it. It won't burn anything. I checked the devise manager & it says everything is working properly. What should I do?

Did you get a warrenty? It sounds like your drive is damaged or dead. Gateway should replace it under warrenty. Also, you may wish to try and clean the lens with the special cleaners you can get for cd drives first, but it sounds like it as had enough.

I wonder why the device manage says it's working if it's damaged. Anyhow, it is past warrenty. I guess it's time to think about a new one. Alas. Thanks for your help.
