I have a customer laptop that someone locked with a HDD password. Does anyone know where this password is stored? I can think of three places but dont know which if any is correct.
CMOS. If its the cmos then removing the mobo battery should clear it.
HDD Firmware. If it is stored in the firmware of the hdd then I have no chance of getting rid of it.
HDD somewhere around the partition tables on the HDD. A low level format will get rid of it.
Trouble is as its a laptop none of these solutions are easy to get to, to try. Does any one actually know or have any relevent info?
