Local Area Connection Question

Hi, im new to the forum and i Apologize if this is the wrong section.

Anyways, I hope most are familiar with the Local Area connection (for people who have DSL , Wireless, Cable, etc)

I'm wondering what does it mean on the "General Tab" Activity section, when you recieve more than are sent (the bytes).

I'm suddenly experiencing lagg and i believe it's due to that.

If anyone can help or suggest an idea I would really appreciate it

Thanks in advance.

On a side note, a friend of mine suggest that it could be a virus or a "hacker" who has by pass my computer and is currently uploading somethings.

(I hope not because I have Zonealarm, anti-virus, and many spyware removers)
