Intel i815 maximum Hard Drive Size?

  #1
Dec 3rd, 2006
Hey all,

I just inherited an older chipset computer and wanted to know the maximum hard disk size I could install on it. It's in a Dell Dimension 4100...I downloaded the manual but nothing gives.

Anyone out there know what the max is for the i815? I think since it is ATA100 it should be 137GB but I wanted to see if anyone else knew specifically.

I don't know if there is i815 HD size limit, but I've heard that there is a debilitating RAM limitation (512 MB).

Anyway, any hardware HD size limit is only present while formatting the drive, and it can be overriden softwarewise. Othrerwise, you can format bigger-than-supported drive somewhere else and use it on i815.

I say what I see. If you find my words offensive, then you find reality offensive.
