The following are some of the important press release distribution sites, where press or news releases can be submitted free of charge. If you want maximum exposure to your release, it is recommended to go for paid ones or contribute to upgrade your release.
i recently released a press release (just to try) and got some good exposure to my site with more hits and sales. nonetheless, press releases is another good way of promoting your site and link development. i collected some of the important press release sites where it can be submitted for free. PRweb is no longer free, as from end of October they charge per release posted.

I think the change was made a couple of days before the post, but you wouldn't know unless you tried to actually submit a press release at which point you get the message about how the market has changed and 'that will be forty bucks please' pops up.

www.free-news-release.com - It is a full free press release site which provides backlinks with anchor text.
