Copying a database to another server

  #1
Feb 17th, 2007
Hello, I tried searching but didn't see anything. How involved is it to copy a database to another server?

Currently the database is on a cpanel server and I need to copy it to my new server. I copied the rest of the site and everything seems to be working so I asked tech support and they said once I get the database copied over it's good to go.

I am a full time css/xhtml dev. and graphic designer, I know the front end stuff but need some help with server side. Thanks for your help!

got it, just exported the old database to a .sql file then created a new database on the new server and uploaded the .sql file.

Cleaver man, yes that what you do. Either use phpMyAdmin export option to create export file or just use MySQL to "dump" rutine to save your file somwhere on disk and then import it to new DB
