Shine Media Group - Company Website

  #1
Jun 1st, 2004
Hello,

I'm new to the forum and I work for a web solutions company called Shine Media Group.

We have recently updated our website at http://www.shinemedia.com.au.

Any feedback would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Damian Bruno

I have to say, I am very impressed by the design, graphics, and Flash. However, it did take me some time to spot the navigation and figure out how to use it. (At first, and even second glance, I didn't realize the flowchat was navigation, and the word "navigation" is so ultra teeny tiny). I think it was really just pure coincidence I moved the mouse cursor to the left and saw it change to the hand. I completely love the look and feel of the small fonts. However, when attempting to read and browse the site, they were so small it got a bit irritating. I actually had to squint when trying to read a full paragraph. And I'm only 21!

I agree with Dani. What if on the home page instead of "Navigation", you had "Navigate Below" ?

The word "Navigation" is on the darker background than the actual 5 things to click on to navigate. The band of white between the dark brown and the light brown seem to act as a visual barrier. And the 5 things certainly don't LOOK like anything to click. The light bulb isn't something to click.

Hey, maybe the light bulb could be something to click.
The obvious association with a light bulb is "idea".
On the far right (lower) you could pay tribute to some great idea from history (date, creator, etc) each time the light bulb is clicked.

Another possibility is... put the fancy navigation that looks like schematic on a timer... and swap in and out the titles of the sections. That'll catch people's eyes and get the point across that the schematic is to be clicked on.

There's a slight error in the navigation.
When the user clicks section 3, for example, they get to "Case Studies".
From that point on, the mouse-over #3 doesn't react and a click doesn't take you to that section (since you are already there).

UNLESS, the user clicked Shine logo picture to make the page go back home, in which case the user isn't really looking at section 3 any more.
The fancy navigation section, however, still reacts as if the user is on section 3.

Congrats on the yahoo account.

Ya'll are obviously very creative and talented. I love it!
Keep up the good work.

Dan

Ummm.. excellent changes, but this comment I made before is still true.
