[For Hire] Freelance phpBB Installation Services
0
Hello,
My concern is the following:
1. If you are charging such low costs, can you possibly insure that what you do is 110% true? What I mean is, is the code for my site going to be clean, optimized and error free when you are done? In my honest opinion, I highly doubt it.
2. How long have you been using phpBB? You said that you raised the prices for a normal phpBB 2.0.11 installation. Well, what was it before and there is not anything more you need to do other then upload, create the database, and run the install script. Takes me about 2 minutes to do all of that.
3. If I was to hire you (not saying I am or evening thinking of it ... ), what happens if the next day after you done the work my site like what the unknowns call, get "hacked". Or, what if there is an unknown script that outputs confidential information such as the database name, database host, username and password located in the phpBB Root path in a file called config.php? Even though the permissions for that file are set to 644 or at least they should be unless you or someone else didnt do the install properly, or even just being a goof and changes the permissions of the file. Or what if you created a simple script, hid it somewhere where only you know about it, and eventually the world will as Google is a nice and likes to find things like that. All you would need to do is use the include(); statement and include the phpBB Config.php file.
4. Why force your clients to pay full upfront? What if we are a worry bag and dont trust you as we have never worked for you before? That is absolutely insane and not right. And how do we know that you are not going to take the money and run. Many of my clients have had that happen to them, until I provided them with the best solutions possible.
5. Do you offer your phone number or any sort of better communication other then via email or some sort of instant messenger? I hope you do, because communication with your clients and future clients over the telephone, person to person is a lot better then just having them wonder what or who is really doing their work.
Well, let me first introduce myself. My name is Aaron McGowan. I am also known as CyberGeek, as you may be able to tell by my username. I am the president of CyberGeek's Software Solutions. I have done hundreds of many of sites anything from simple design to phpBB MODifications (installation, custom mods, etc), to large Stand alone web applications.
Let me first say and be the first to tell you, our prices here at CyberGeek's Software Solutions are higher. Now, ask me why our prices are higher and our "competition's" prices are lower. Well, this is because we guarentee the following:
1. 24/7 Support for the following 90 days
2. Complete backup before and after our services have been delivered.
3. All code that is not clean or optimized before we start, we do our best to catch any of it, and also fix it before we start so that we can provide our clients with the best possible solutions.
4. A full detailed documentation of the services completed and also an invoice is provided after the services have been provide.
5. We do not ask for the full payment up front, as we know that this makes our customers and clients worry the first or second time that they work with us if we are going to really going to do the services. Instead, we charge anywhere from 10 to 50% of the payment upfront to guarentee the work.
6. If we find that a section of your site can be better optimized for you, and your viewers, we will inform you about it.
... Lots more.
I personally have been working with phpBB since it first started. Have you? I know phpBB inside and out like I was born from it. I have been doing web development and software development for the past 7 years.
Are you thinking of having someone provide you some sort of web development services? Well, we believe that you will find your best solutions and care at CyberGeek's Software Solutions ( www: www.cybergeeksoftware.com | telephone: +1.519.860.4557 | email: sales@cybergeeksoftware.com ). Alright Aaron,
First off, my clients have all been happy with the work I do. I do freelance work and not once have I let a client down. As you can see in the above post's... there may of been a problem or two (but if you read subsequent post's you'd see they subtracted their negative comments as an agreement was met.)
Now, on the topic of contacting me, there are other ways but seeing that I am not a full time self-employee'd freelancer, I don't see the need to go around posting my "personal" phone number up to the clients.
Other then that I also like to offer my clients incentives such as installing SPAM mods and such for them as well, unlike your forums (which I can tell must not be well maintained... look at one of your forums with spam in it... promoting YOUTH SEX!!!! and don't try to delete it cause I have a screenshot of it now... you should honestly be ashamed of how your treating your "clients" in your forums.)
On the topic of spam (lastly) let me tell you something. Thread hijacking just to promote your company (and we can tell your spamming with only 3 posts) a real company would make more posts then that, if all you can do to gain traffic is thread hijack and advertise on forums as a free method, then God knows you need some serious business management skills kicked into you.
Other then that, enjoy your time and your "overloaded work" you have and I'll keep fine with my clients that I have.

Good Day Sir,
When you said that all of your clients have been happy with your work you have not stated the truth. Remember Bryan? I read one of your other threads that I believe one of your clients were extremely unhappy about your services and you did pretty much what I stated in my initial posts.
If you need a refresher, look at this thread here: http://www.daniweb.com/techtalkforums/thread12150.html
Now, when you stated about the "YOUNG SEX" on my forums. Well, let me be the first to say that phpBB is the most easily targeted Bulletin Board system for Spam. Secondly, we do not use our forums at the moment. Third, all of our clients are delt with over the other types of telecommunications.
Thank-you!

I will say this here,
You should humble yourself Teck. My experience with you was a nightmare. YOU CRASHED MY SIGHT! I had to fix it. You were actualy going to charge me to fix YOUR mistake!!!!!!! Then you had the nerve to tell me I did it. After all this you refused to refund my money. If I did not have a complete back up of my site I would have out of gas completely. In other words you did not back up anything prior to your work and when you crashed my sight you blamed it on me. WOW! The simple fact is that by the time I went back to that thread and responded with a neutral resolve, I was simply over it. But to see you here acting like this knowing the things you have done... I DONT THINK SO!. Im sure you have happy customers, Thats great! Im not one of them. And P.S
The guy you are talking to now above is my new programmer. He is miles over you. Im sure you will get better but you need to learn some humility. If you know you have angry customers out there I would suggest flying a little lower under the Radar. Cybergeek does fantastic work and the money is more than worth it not to be blamed for any mistakes and to have the work done fast and correctly. You said in the response to my thread posted above that you have gotten better. Thats great! I really hope so because My experience with you was the absolute worst I have ever had. Your prices were too good to be true. As you get better I would hope that you will raise your prices a bit as well. Every time I have been given a great deal in this business, it always showed in the end. The simple fact is that you get what you pay for. Good luck in your business!

Cybergeek, honestly, do you have anything else to do but to do bad advertising and marketing through MY thread, if you ask me, your trying to jack my thread for some clients of your own.
Let me be quite honest, whether your forums are used or not used, reguardless, you shouldn't be promoting spam on them. Do you really believe that somebody is going to hire you seeing that you cannot take care of the spam on your forums. This is basically a reflection of how you work, now be honest, what kind of person does this?
Bryan, I apologize for any problems but being honest, once we were done with the job, there was no problems as I had tested everything, then the next day you pop up complaining of a problem. Correct, I should've fixed it, but if it was working once I had finished it and then all of a sudden the next day once everyone was back on the forums and its messed up, why should I fix it for free. I would've fixed it for a discount but you were determined to get free work done cause you kept on and on and on and on about wanting a refund.
At the same time, if you had read the first topic, you would've saw that I do not offer refunds from the gate. This is not my fault, the job was done, everything was in working order and all the pages had been cleared to go. You paid me and that closed that job's mission.
Now if you 2 want to honestly continue on, please do, but not in this thread and at the same time I find it quite childish that one client has had bad experience with me (in his OWN thought.) I have had plenty of other happy people, if your not one, that's fine, but it was your mistake as you came back and threatened to sue me all because of a error that you did.
I wish you the best of luck to the both of you and have a good day.

lol,
Ok there smooth talker.
At any rate Im a customer and its funny that you say you tested everything and then the errors happened as you crashed the site in the middle of doing the work. Not to mention taking forever. But hey, you can say whatever you want. Why would you be honest. Your no refund policy is just plain unprofessional. Secondly you should alter the files off site and test them on a different "test" forum or at the very liest back up the files before you alter them. In case you forgot, several of the mods I payed you to install were not done. You were unable to do them. Again no refund! I had to find something you were capable of doing in place of them. I just dont know anyone who does business this way.
Whatever,
Take care

Brian, its apparent your not going to admit that it was a problem on your end. As I stated, I finished the job and everything was smooth until the next day when "apparently" there was a problem. Now remember, you even said yourself it was fine and then the next day your having "issues."
My no refund policy is professional, what isn't professional is your ethic of gettin (in a form) free work for what I did. You were so desperate for a refund, if my mind serves me right, you threatened to see me, even though it was clearly evident BEFORE you hired me for the job that I offered no refunds once the job was completed. I do offer refund's in special occasions, but assuming that this is what is known as a "virtual" job, its easily possible to save the files, receive the refund, then replace the work back up.
About installing on a different server, I usually would like to hear a request that you'd want them tested seperately from the live forum. MAYBE you don't remember (or maybe you do) but you warned me that it was a live community, in which I worked dilligently to put everything up. Now if you had stated "I don't want this done on the live forum" then you'd been telling me to do it on a test server or seperately from the live forum and I would've honored that request. Other wise, I assumed you wanted it done on the live forum when you stated to be careful cause it was a live forum, in which I was careful and like I said, the job was done and everything worked, then mysteriously the next day your forum started having issues.
Either way, you found another coder and that's good, why don't ya'll just move on as I have instead of making a small scene into a BIG case. I did the job and it was done fine, you paid and we moved on our seperate ways.

Warning to those of you who are thinking of using YoungTeck06/mdstreetsoulja/Dustin's services!
Do not give this guy any money. He asks for full payment up front, and then offers all kinds of excuses and delays until it's too late to file a refund claim before he disappears without doing a lick of work. He's a SCAM ARTIST. A low-down, dirty, THIEF! He talks a good game, but that's exactly it - it's a game. He should be ashamed.
We've been burned by Dustin. It's a simple case of "fool me once, shame on you..." We just want to make sure he doesn't fool anyone else.
