cannot delete files

cant delete files i tried the MOS THING AND IT DIDNT WORK. i icons on the desktop are not bright like the others and thats why i think i cant delete it. what do i do? and its a shortcut.

Look under the "General" tab and see if "Read-only" is enabled. If you have show hidden files set to on, check for that too.
