Reputation Points.

This is outstanding. Makes me feel special for starting it (although it would have started eventually).
If a robber tried to rob a dance club and yelled, "Everybody get down", would all the people start dancing?

couldn't we just have one point from all the newbies we help? sniff sniff...

Perhaps make it so newbies can't give rep points out frequently, i.e. it has to be to different people.

I know this is an old thread, but like someone else said earlier, why start a new one? I have a small problem I hope someone can help me with. I started a thread in the Geek forum about other message boards. I wasn't trying to knock this one - actually I really like this board. I was just courious if there were some others out there for the IT and its related fields. There wasn't anything negative about the thread... actually you can read the post if you want:

A couple of days after the thread was started someone docked me a rep point. I'm still a new member and now I look like a moron(and feel like one too) because I'm the only member with a rep of 9. There is a lot of talk on here about family... but what the hell is that all about? Being docked a point, and now looking like an idiot, leaves me pretty bitter
. Can someone explain the point to me please?
Thanks,
Nate
PS- Under the comments section, whoever gave me a negative point left a childish remark saying, and I quote, "i dont like him"

Behind every great gymnast - is a mentally unstable coach.
does that make you happier?
so how on earth could someone as childish as that get enough rep points to affect yours?
